Pertandingan UUKA peringkat Negeri cawangan Negeri Sembilan telah di jalankan pada pagi in 27 Julai 2019, 9.00 pagi di Pusat Latihan BSMM Temiang.

BSMM ACS telah menang dan mendapat tempat JOHAN keseluruhan.Peserta terbaik ialah Vaiitheswary( 4Z).

TRIBUTE TO A TRUE VISIONARY

To An Officer

To A Gentleman

To A Friend

Our Principal-par Excellence, Mr. Thong Kok Chaw for whom we celebrate the history of a lifetime journey in the teaching profession that culminates with his retirement.

Mr Thong is truly a visionary. His immense contributions to ACS is indeed highly commendable; giving ACS a complete turnover in terms of its infrastructure and upgraded facilities and placing ACS on a common platform with other schools in Seremban.Mr Thong was born and bred in Seremban, in a family of 6 siblings of humble parents who worked hard to provide the best for the family. Growing up in an ordinary neighbourhood, he discerned very early in life about the rewards of hard work and sacrifice. Having an industrious father as a role model, Mr Thong discovered that a good education assured a better future. Hence, from a very young age, he worked very hard, excelling in school. He completed his primary education with a double promotion within 5 years at SK Dato Klana Maamor and continued his lower secondary education at SMK Dato Sheikh Ahmad up till Form 3 and thereafter at SMK King George V from Form 4 to Upper 6.

In 1974, upon completion of the Higher School Certificate, Mr Thong pursued his studies at the University Science Malaysia, Penang in a Science Degree Course graduating with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Chemistry & Mathematics with a Diploma in Education; making him the youngest amongst his peers to graduate at 22 years of age.

He began his career in the teaching profession in April 1978 with his first posting in Muar where he taught Mathematics and Further Mathematics to Form 6 students and Chemistry to Form 5 students. While still teaching in Muar, Mr Thong settled down to a family life in 1980 and has 2 children from his marriage. Within a few years in Muar, his responsibilities increased. This included single-handedly preparing teachers’ personal timetables and managing the maintenance of the science laboratories while at the same time teaching 30 periods per week. During the December holidays, he was a Further Mathematics examiner for the STPM examination. In 1983, Mr Thong was transferred back to Negeri Sembilan where he taught at SMK Chung Hua, Kuala Pilah as an ordinary academic teacher while continuing to hold other responsibilities as a class teacher. He was promoted as the Senior Assistant 1 of the same school in 1984 and he continued to serve there until 30 June 1993. During his tenure in SMK Chung Hua, Mr Thong was given the Excellence Service Award.

On 1st July 1993, Mr Thong was again promoted to a higher scale, taking the position of the Head of Mathematics & Science Department at SMK Za’ba, Kuala Pilah. He served in this school for only 6 months as he was transferred back to Seremban on 1st January 1994 to SMK Chan Wa as the Afternoon Supervisor. Within 6 months of his posting to SMK Chan Wa, Mr Thong was again given a parallel transfer to SMK Methodist (ACS), Seremban, also as the Afternoon Supervisor.

In 1996, Mr Thong was again promoted as the Senior Assistant 1 at SMK Tunku Ampuan Durah , Seremban. He remained there until mid-December 2000.

On 16 December 2000, Mr Thong rose the promotional ladder once again as the Principal of SMK Dato Mansor, Bahau where he served until 2003. Mr Thong’s upward mobility of the success ladder had remained progressively constant, making him an exemplary role model as the youngest amongst his peers to go up the ranks as principal of an established ‘A’ Grade school at 45 years of age.

His final transfer back to Seremban as the principal of SMK Methodist ACS Seremban was on 16 May 2003, serving here until his retirement today. An illustrious journey began during his tenure in ACS.

As the new principal of ACS, his immediate task was to further improve the school from where his predecessors had left. Under Mr Thong’s leadership, ACS underwent massive transformation in terms of school facilities and infrastructure. He turned around the inside of the physical structures in ACS; improving existing facilities as well as adding new ones for the benefit of both students and teachers alike.

To begin with, our school office underwent a massive renovation where built-in cabinets and lockers replaced old and rusted metal cupboards. The clerical staff had glass cubicles to work within. Our school counsellors and discipline teachers were also given their own rooms to work. In the teachers’ room, a new partition was erected to accommodate the Heads of Departments in their own separate space. A male students’ toilet was built and improved using the previous premise of the school scouts’ room and the prefects’ room. A new Living Skills Workshop was added to the existing workshop. These transformations stretched over the period from 2004-2005.

The physical development and improved infrastructure continued to escalate consistently. In 2010, the building of the ‘Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum’ was completed and officiated by the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan. In 2013, the Audio Visual Room was built from the extension of the first floor of the Jones Block. The Discipline Room, the PTA Stationery Shop and the School Cooperative Shop were built on the extension from the Schmucker Block. The Music Room, an addition to the Co-curricular Activity Centre was built in 2013.

Mr Thong’s personal effort and interest contributed to the transformation of the physical environment from a concrete landscape to a garden school. He initiated the planting of trees and colourful flowering plants all around the school to give the school a new breath of life.

Working alongside Madam Chuan Teik Mei, the former Senior Assistant 1, Mr Thong worked tirelessly to upgrade the academic achievement of the school by initiating various academic programmes for the various subject panels.

During his tenure in ACS, Mr Thong was promoted from the DG48 scale to the DG52 scale in 2007. He was once again promoted from the DG52 scale to his present DG54 scale in 2010.

In a more pensive tone, Mr Thong did express the heavy price of leadership. Many a time, decisions had to be made that may seem unfavourable but he always defended on the right thing to do. Mr Thong has been known for his quiet nature; a good listener, many teachers find it comfortable to talk to him or to settle pressing issues with him.

Unknown to many, Mr Thong is a conservative and a reserved person; preferring not to highlight his achievements as well as his contributions to education throughout his tenure as a teacher. A proud father, Mr Thong revealed that during the early years of his marriage, he and his wife sacrificed a lot in order to give the best to their 2 children. Today his daughter is a Specialist Doctor married to a Cardiac Specialist while his son is a Marketing Executive in a Multinational Pharmaceutical Company. Both of them are doing well in their respective chosen vocation and are contributing productively to society.

During his pastime, Mr Thong enjoys reading biographies of successful people which to him is edifying as well as personally encouraging.

Mr Thong, as ACSians remember, always presented himself meticulously. His impeccable dress code of long-sleeved shirt and matching necktie gave an aura of control. When pressed on the discussion of dress code, Mr Thong revealed that he believed in image projection in accordance to the office one holds.

Mr Thong’s retirement makes him no less relevant. As he closes this chapter of his journey in the teaching career, a new page opens in the new dawn. His plans for the future is indefinite. A Christian, Mr Thong believes on the dependence on God for the future.

We want to remember Mr Thong for all that he has strived for. We pay tribute to a legendary who contributed tirelessly for the betterment of ACS.

Mr. Aziz bin Mansor Retirement

ACSians bade farewell to Mr. Aziz bin Mansor on the occasion of his retirement on 18th September 2015. Mr. Aziz taught Geography and Civics and was also the School Discipline teacher. In a brief assembly, Mr. Aziz was given a grand farewell by the Principal and the ACS community amidst celebrations. May his days be filled with happiness and good health.

ACSians bade farewell and best wishes to Mr. Amrik Singh Sidhu who retired on 25th March 2015. Mr.Amrik Singh Sidhu served as a Science teacher throughout his teaching career which spanned from 1974. He was also a long time Scouts Master for the ACS Scout Movement. His retirement celebration was attended by both the Morning and Afternoon Session teachers. Students who were taught by him remember him as a courteous, kind, easy going and lovable teacher. He was also well liked and respected by all teachers. ACSians wish him happiness, health and a good rest.

Mdm Ong Geok Mooi's Retirement

Tribute to a Woman of Precision

        Retirement - Madam Chuan Teik Me

All the world’s a stage,

And all the men and women merely players.

They have their exits and entrances,

And one man in his time

Plays many parts……

The drama of life continues

Set on the rhythm of a world stage…..

Shakespeare aptly captures the essence of life’s journey and the various roles played by each one of us in our life time. One such brilliant and excellent role played by our celebrated lady, Madam Chuan Teik Mei was staged here in ACS.

Madam Chuan’s immense contributions to ACS is indeed immeasurable, a rich and colourful legacy that shaped the history and destiny of our school, the ACS that we now enjoy. Where did it all begin? Let’s reminisce together the long and windy road, often times laden with obstacles that Madam Chuan had patiently journeyed for 34 years and 8 months.

Madam Chuan Teik Mei was born and bred in Ipoh, Perak, in a family of 3 siblings and parents. From a very young age, her parents had instilled in their children the importance of education and deep values in life. For this reason they had mission school education.

She received her entire education, 6 years of primary and 7 years of secondary education at the Methodist Girls School (MGS), in Ipoh, Perak. Added with 34 years and 8 months at SMK Methodist ACS, Seremban, she is indeed an unchallenged feat and an all-time record of true Methodist alumni.

In 1974, upon completion of the Higher School Certificate or HSC as it was then known, Madam Chuan pursued her studies at the prestigious University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in a Science Degree Course. She graduated 4 years later with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Biology

She began her career in the teaching profession with her first and only other posting in her entire teaching career to a school in Kuala Kangsar where she taught Mathematics. However, her service there was a short stint of only 7 months as marriage changed her destiny forever.

Heading south to Negeri Sembilan in 1980 with her husband, the new bride settled in Seremban, a place totally foreign to her as she neither knew anyone nor had any friends.

Adding to her misery and adaption to a new place, Madam Chuan was posted to a school in Kuala Lumpur and not Seremban. But call it luck or fate or the Grace of God, at that time of her transfer, the Anglo Chinese School, Seremban, our school as it was then known, was in critical need of a General Science teacher. Being a Science graduate, the Education Department Negeri Sembilan, duly notified her of this vacancy and that she could be re-posted here on condition that she taught General Science. It was too good a bargain and without hesitation, Madam Chuan accepted the offer and thus began an illustrious journey in ACS.

In ACS, apart from teaching General Science, Madam Chuan like all newly posted teachers was no exception to being a class teacher and the responsibilities that came with it

Within a few years here, she was appointed the Panel Head of Science and her responsibilities increased. This included delegating, managing and maintenance of the science laboratories, purchasing and drawing up stock inventories, setting up rules and regulations and other safety measures for the school science laboratories.

In the year 2000, Madam Chuan was promoted as the Head of Mathematics and Science Department and undertook all the duties required of the Head of Department, including Academic and Co-Curricular activities pertaining to Mathematics and Science.

Madam Chuan’s upward mobility of the success ladder remained progressively constant and in 2004, she was again promoted and this time as the Senior Assistant of Students’ Affairs. She assumed this position until her final promotion in 2008 as the Senior Assistant 1 which she has held until her retirement today.

Her numerous promotions make Madam Chuan an exemplary role model, that in life, we do not remain static but move progressively to higher levels and end our journey more gloriously from how we first started.

As the Senior Assistant 1 and also as the Academic Head, Madam Chuan’s immediate task was to meticulously plan and strategize ways to upgrade the academic benchmark of the school. She initiated the SPM/PMR/PT3 programmes whereby teachers within each panel prepared worksheets on topics specified and delegated by their respective panel heads.

Many teachers have found these programmes to be a productive source of revision, relieving them from the hassle of outsourcing revision materials for students.

Reflecting back at her own rich and colourful education in post- independent Malaya which was still very much British influenced, Madam Chuan thought seriously of the numerous students from classes like the Usaha, Jujur and Ikhlas going through the rhythm of school life without any recognition nor purpose. Hence, she, together with the Principal introduced and innovated little mini programmes which involved these academically weak students.

Hence, the poetry recitation and storytelling competitions for both the Bahasa Melayu and English Panels were introduced. She also initiated classroom spelling, synonyms and antonym competitions, mini Art and Craft exhibition, photography and Geography displays, Science and Mathematics exhibitions and competitions. Students took great pride and ownership of their work and efforts.

                         Madam Chuan also ensured that every winner was awarded some kind of prize regardless of its cost, even as much as RM5.00 per winner. She felt fulfilled and had a sense of pride seeing the beaming faces of students when they queued up to receive their prizes during the school assembly.

During her tenure in ACS, Madam Chuan was accorded the Excellence Service Award in 1997 and in 2007 she was awarded again but this time it was directly from the Ministry of Education. In 2012 she was awarded the Excellence Service Award and a promotion from the Ministry of Education, both of which for the DG 52 scale.

In a more pensive tone, Madam Chuan did express the heavy price of leadership. Unknown to many of us, it had been a lonely and frightening journey for her. Many a time, decisions had to be made that seemed unfavourable to some as it was impossible to please everyone when delegating and discharging duties. In the process she has been grossly misunderstood, losing some friends along the way. But risking it all, Madam Chuan reinforced just one point…. The job needs to be done and done excellently.

Madam Chuan has been known for her uncompromising benchmark for excellence. A woman of precision, she analyses examination results right to the second decimal point and is able to spot a missing comma, a full-stop or even a grammatically incorrect sentence immediately.

She is also a fashion statement in ACS for her excellent dress taste which portrays sheer elegance, feminity and modesty whilst clinging to conservative hemlines.

As Shakespeare profoundly mentions that

One man in his time plays many parts

Madam Chuan’s retirement makes her no less relevant. As she closes this chapter of her journey in ACS, a new page opens in the new dawn.

We want to remember Madam Chuan for all that she has strived for. She laid down 34 years and 7 months of her life for ACS. And we owe her this gratitude. We choose to love her

        Retirement – Miss Ng Mui Ching

Clouds come floating into my life

         No longer to carry rain or usher storm

But to add colour and radiance to my sunset sky.

Thus are the words of the great nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, who, in his classic epic ‘Gitanjali’, describes the friendship built in one’s youth as comparable to clouds carrying rain and storm in the turbulence and immaturity of youth. And he adds, that a lasting friendship built in the twilight years of one’s life, is comparable to a colourful and radiant sunset in all its brilliance and glory.

Thus is our friendship with Miss Ng Mui Ching, built not in the turbulent years of youth but in profound maturity of adulthood. For most of us, our personal encounter with Miss Ng Mui Ching began here in ACS. Words can never adequately describe the bond of friendship built with someone precious like Miss Ng Mui Ching. Our profound memories of her include working alongside her in multi-disciplinary tasks. 

There is only one outstanding impression of Miss Ng… a gentle and quiet spirit which she has consistently portrayed without pretension, even in very trying and taxing moments. This is the unfading beauty that makes her so special. Miss Ng Mui Ching can be categorised among unsung heroes who go about doing their work unnoticed yet, profoundly accomplishing the responsibilities entrusted to them excellently. In her 22 years and 6 months here in ACS, she served as an Economics and English Language teacher, the chief teacher advisor of the School Christian Fellowship, the school Examination Secretary and the secretary of the School Board of Governors. As Miss Ng Mui Ching retires on 11 November 2014, we the ACS community pay tribute with these befitting lines of her:

Your beauty Miss Ng Mui Ching,

Does not come from outward adornment

Of hairstyles, or jewellery or fine clothes.

Rather

It all radiates from your innerself,

The unfading beauty

Of a gentle and quiet spirit

Which

Is of great worth

In the sight of man

And in the sight of GOD.

Charm is deceitful

And beauty is vain,

But a woman who fears GOD

She shall be praised.

A brief assembly to commemorate their service and contributions to the school was held at the PKK. Pulsating ACS express our deepest gratitude to them for their good works.

On 15 July 2014, the ACS staff bade farewell to Madam Zalilah binti Nordin, Madam Nazariah binti Sulaiman and Madam Norliza binti Said who were transferred to other schools. ACS expresses its gratitude to them for their service.

Madam See Bee Ean as the new Senior Assistant 1 of SMK Methodist (ACS) Seremban. Prior to her transfer here, Madam See taught at SMK Tunku Kurshiah, Kuala Pilah for 29 years and 4 months where she also held the position of Senior Assistant 1 for 19 years. We are indeed privileged to have her in ACS and we hope that her wide experience and expertise will help boost the academic achievements of the school to greater heights.

Tahun 2013 merupakan tahun yang ’Bertuah’ kepada semua warga SMK Methodist (ACS), Seremban kerana pada tahun ini terbinalah sebuah bilik tayangan yang selama ini diimpikan. Bak kata orang ’Mimpi Menjadi Kenyataan’.Dengan kesungguhan pihak pengurusan yang mengambil inisiatif dalam perkhidmatan Pusat Sumber Sekolah (PSS), kini bilik tayangan dalam struktur pembinaan. Diharapkan dengan pembinaaan bilik tayangan ini, proses pengajaran dan pembelajran di sekolah ini semakin bertambah baik dari semasa ke semasa demi mencapai visi dan misi pendidikan. Terima kasih kami warga ACS kepada Pengetua Cemerlang, En. Thong Kok Chaw selaku penasihat PSS dan tidak dilupakan juga kepada Pn. Chuan Teik Mei selaku Pengerusi PSS yang berusaha ke arah terbinanya bilik tayangan.

Sementara itu, aktiviti kemuncak iaitu ’Minggu Pusat Sumber Sekolah’ yang bertemakan ’PSS Menjana Minda’ telah diadakan pada 17 – 21hb. Jun 2013. Minggu PSS ini telah dilancarkan oleh pengetua sekolah semasa perhimpunan rasmi dengan memukul gong.

Pada minggu ini pelbagai aktiviti dijalankan seperti persaraan dan pelantikan pengawas perpustakaan, pengawas perpustakaan cemerlang, pengawas perpustakaan berkomitmen, ulasan buku, penghasilan bahan pengajaran dan pembelajaran (kategori guru dan murid), murid yang banyak meminjam buku perpustakaan, pertandingan kerap ke perpustakaan, dan pemenang anugerah NILAM setiap tingkatan. Selain itu, aktiviti yang mendapat sambutan hangat ialah teka kacang dalam botol dan cabutan bertuah mengunjungi perpustakaan dalam minggu PSS. Hadiah-hadiah juga diberi kepada pemenang-pemenang dalam bentuk wang tunai, pen sentuh, voucer buku, dan hamper. Pihak PSS amat berbesar hati atas sambutan yang amat menggalakkan daripada semua warga ACS.

Dalam pertandingan penghasilan bahan bantu mengajar KBKK/Ms. Power Point kategori guru tempat pertama dimenangi oleh Cik Azma binti Mohamad Amin (Sains Tg. 1). Pemenang kedua pula dimenangi oleh En. Ganesan a/l Murusamy (Sejarah Tg. 4), dan pemenang ketiga dalam mata pelajaran Ekonomi Asas Tg. 4 dimenangi oleh Pn. Zarina binti Bahri. Tahniah kepada semua pemenang dan terima kasih kepada semua yang terlibat sama ada secara langsung atau tidak langsung dalam menjayakan Minggu PSS 2013 ini.

‘NILAM’ atau Nadi Ilmu Amalan Membaca merupakan penggabungan atau adunan semua aktiviti galakan membaca yang pernah dijalankan di sekolah dengan memberi pengiktirafan yang sesuai. Pelaksanaan program ini meliputi penilaian pembacaan yang berterusan sepanjang tahun dan markah dikumpulkan secara kumulatif sehinggalah mereka tamat persekolahan. Program ini ialah satu usaha Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia dengan matlamat untuk membina tabiat membaca dalam kalangan murid. Bahagian Teknologi Pendidikan ialah urus setia di Kementerian Pelajaran yang ditugaskan untuk menyelaras program ini.

Program ini telah mula dilaksanakan dengan Tahun Satu di sekolah rendah dan Tingkatan Satu atau

Peralihan di sekolah menengah dengan rasminya pada 1999, melalui Surat Pekeliling Ikhtisas Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia Bil.13/1998: Program Membina Tabiat Membaca bertarikh 22 Mei 1998.

 Apakah tahap yang terdapat dalam program NILAM?

Program NILAM mempunyai dua tahap. Tahap pertama ialah untuk membina kemahiran dan menanam minat membaca sehingga terbina satu tabiat. Tahap ini dikenali sebagai JAUHARI. Tahap kedua pula membantu pencambahan penggunaan bahan dalam gerakan membaca. Tahap ini dikenali sebagai RAKAN PEMBACA.

Apakah yang dimaksudkan dengan TAHAP RAKAN PEMBACA?

Tahap RAKAN PEMBACA (RP) mengutamakan aspek

kepimpinan dalam aktiviti membaca. Setelah membaca sejumlah 100 buah buku murid layak memasuki tahap RP. Tahap ini memberi penekanan kepada kebolehan murid membimbing dan menarik minat orang lain supaya suka membaca. Walau bagaimanapun aktiviti Tahap JAUHARI masih diteruskan. Pengiraan markah bagi aktiviti ini diberikan mengikut jumlah aktiviti atau sesi aktiviti yang dijalankan mengikut kesesuaian umur murid seperti :

- Bercerita (1 sesi = 5 markah)

- Bicara Buku (1 sesi = 5 markah)

- Ulasan Buku (1 sesi = 5 markah)

- Meminjamkan buku (1buku x 5 peminjam = 5 markah)

Oleh itu, pihak pentadbir sekolah yang bertanggungjawab dalam urusan perolehan buku-buku perlulah mengambil kira faktor-faktor ini dalam usaha membina koleksi di Pusat Sumber Sekolah. Perkara kedua yang membentuk trend membaca dalam kalangan murid-murid pula ialah bentuk buku yang dibaca. Trend dan minat murid-murid sekarang lebih terarah kepada sesuatu yang bersifat teknologi dan ICT. Kita melihat ini sebagai sesuatu yang positif dan Program NILAM juga sememangnya sentiasa ditambah baik seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi sedia ada.

Dalam pelaksanaan Program NILAM diminta murid membaca sebanyak mungkin buku dankemudian mencatatnya dalam Buku Rekod NILAM. Buku-buku yang dimaksudkan ialah buku-buku berbentuk fizikal yang dipinjam dari Pusat Sumber Sekolah, Perpustakaan Awam ataupun yang mereka beli sendiri. Seiring dengan kepesatan teknologi, Program NILAM juga menggalakkan mereka membaca buku-buku dalam bentuk digital yang boleh diperoleh dari Pusat Sumber Digital, e-book dan juga CD/DVD. Malah mereka juga boleh memuat turun bahan-bahan bacaan dari internet untuk mereka baca dan simpan sebagai koleksi peribadi mereka. Sekarang ini sudah ada teknologi di mana buku-buku berbentuk digital boleh ”membacakan” buku tersebut untuk kita dan boleh disimpan di dalam pemain muzik MP3 dan juga iPod. Dengan kepesatan teknologi yang semakin memudahkan kita pada zaman ini, tidak ada alasan lagi sebenarnya untuk kita mengatakan bahawa kita tidak ada masa untuk membaca.

ORIENTATION WEEK

The orientation week for Form 1 and Form 4 students was held from 2-4 Jan 2013. The Form 1 students were introduced to the school infrastructure, facilities and the various school blocks. They were also briefed on the school rules and discipline issues. The Form 4 students were briefed on the new academic subjects offered for both the Arts and Science streams in preparation for their SPM examination.

GOTONG-ROYONG

A massive spring cleaning session was carried out in the whole school on Friday, 4 January 2013. Students and teachers had a fun time as they worked vigorously for a cleaner and conducive learning environment under the supervision of their respective class teachers. Lessons resumed to normal at 8.45a.m.

PREFECTS INSTALLATION

School prefects were officially installed during the school assembly. The installation ceremony was carried out at two levels.

The principal presented these new prefects with a badge and a neck tie each as they took on their new roles. It is our hope that they will effectively carry out their duties without fear or favour. It was indeed a proud moment for these students who will be our future pillars of leadership.

SPORTS HOUSE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

Ordinary students who slacken academically but excel in sports were placed on high pedestals on 17 January 2013 during the Sports House Annual General Meeting. Students gathered at their respective sports house venues to nominate and elect the new house captain as well as other office bearers for 2013. Lessons resumed back to normal at 8.10a.m.

APPOINTMENT OF CLASS MONITORS AND ASSISTANTS

Class monitors and Assistant monitors were given due recognition by the school during their appointment ceremony on 24 January 2013 by the Senior Assistant 1, Mdm Chuan Teik Mei who gave them each a badge. It is hoped that they will effectively carry out their role with full responsibility within their classrooms.

PROMOTION FOR NEW MEMBERSHIP

A healthy and competitive campaign to recruit new members for co-curricular units was carried out at the Methodist Centre on the following dates.

Campaigners resorted to all kinds of gimmicks and marketing strategies to lure new members into signing up with their respective clubs, societies and uniform units. It was fun.

PBSM

Pertandingan Ujian Kemahiran Unit Beruniform (Perempuan) Peringkat Daerah telah diadakan di Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sendayan pada 23 Februari 2013. Pertandingan ini telah disertai oleh pasukan sekolah yang terdiri daripada 4 orang ahli Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia serta 2 orang ahli Pandu Puteri. Pertandingan ini telah dibahagikan kepada 3 bahagian. Antaranya ialah Kategori Pertolongan Cemas, Kategori Gadjet, dan Kategori Orienteering.

Pasukan sekolah telah menang dalam ketiga-tiga bahagian tersebut. Pasukan sekolah juga muncul sebagai Johan Keseluruhan dalam Pertandingan Ujian Kemahiran Unit Beruniform (Perempuan) Peringkat Daerah. Saudari Yap Zuoo Chi juga telah dipilih Peserta Terbaik dalam pertandingan ini dan akan mewakili Seremban Zon 1 untuk menyertai pertandingan di peringkat Negeri.

KELAB CATUR

Kelab Catur telah menyertai Kejohanan Catur MSSD Seremban Selatan pada 6 Februari 2013 di SMA Persekutuan Labu. Pasukan sekolah telah beradu nasib dalam semua kategori yang dipertandingkan (empat kategori kesemuanya). Dalam pertandingan terebut pasukan sekolah telah mendapat tempat ketiga bagi kategori Lelaki Bawah 18 tahun acara berpasukan. Walaupun tewas dalam kategori yang lain namun, semua pemain telah menunjukkan kemampuan yang memberangsangkan dan prestasi yang baik ini memberi petunjuk bahawa kita mampu mencapai kemenangan yang diharapkan pada tahun hadapan. Sebagai persediaan pihak sekolah telah mengenalpasti beberapa orang pemain yang berpotensi bagi pertandingan seterusnya. Antaranya melalui Pertandingan Catur antara rumah-rumah sukan pada bulan Jun, mempergiat latihan dan menyertai pelbagai pertandingan yang dianjurkan oleh pelbagai pihak atau NGO berkaitan

CALLIGRAPHY COMPETITION

The Annual Calligraphy competition was held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration on 7 February 2013 with the PTA Chairman, Mr Leow Kwek Onn as the guest of honour. The event kicked off with a variety of cultural performances by students of all races. The highlight of the day was the spectacular presentation of the ‘Eleven Seasons Drums’ by our own students. This was indeed history in the making for ACS.

 Later, in true spirit of Muhibbah an interracial mix of teachers and students took part in the Chinese, Tamil, and Jawi calligraphy. Winners were each presented with a modest AngPow from the principal. The PTA Chairman also gave away mandarin oranges to all students. Everyone was elated!

CHINESE NEW YEAR FIESTA

The CNY fiesta organised by the Chinese Language Society was held on 2 February 2013 at the ‘Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum'. The event kicked off with songs and dances heralding an air of festivity. The grand presentation of the night, ‘24 Seasons Drums’ by our students stole the show. Our principal Mr. Thong Kok Chaw graced the occasion. Also present were members of the school administrative and academic staff. It was indeed a fun-filled night.

FIRE DRILL

The first fire drill for 2013 was held on 28 February 2013. A demonstration on the use of the fire extinguisher was given by Mr. Redzuan bin Aziz. Students were also briefed on safety measures, emergency exits and escape routes in the event of a fire. The Senior Assistant of Students Affairs, Madam Ooi Sow Lay praised and thanked the students for the record time taken in assembling at the basketball court. Lessons resumed as normal thereafter.

BOYS AND GIRLS BRIGADE

ACS formed the Boys and Girls Brigade beginning 2013 with the objective of installing discipline and christian values amongst young students. During the installation day on 24 February 2013, our pioneer members attended the Sunday church service at the Wesley Methodist Church, Seremban. Our school Brigade teams collaborate closely with the brigade team of Wesley Methodist School, Seremban. Our boys brigade also attended an orientation camp from 5-7 April 2013 at Wesley Methodist School. The teacher advisors of the Boys and Girls Brigades are Mr. James Louis and Mdm. Carol Kennedy Dawson respectively.

ACS MUSIC FESTIVAL

The ACS Music Festival gave its maiden performance on 23 February 2013. The event kicked off at 7.30 p.m. after the opening speech by the principal. Among the many performances of songs, dances and piano recitals, the ACS school band gave an electrifying performance which became the highlight of the night. T-Shirts were also sold to commemorate the event. Mr. Lim Loon Chang gave a surprise rendition of a song with the accompaniment of piano recital which vowed the crowd. ACSians congratulate all participants of the festival as well as their teacher advisor and trainer, Mr. Lim Loon Chang for a successful jazzy and fun filled musical night.

Pertandingan Kawad Kaki NGO Peringkat Daerah

Pertandingan Kawad Kaki NGO Peringkat Daerah telah diadakan pada 22 Mac 2013. Pertandingan ini telah disertai oleh 30 orang ahli BSMM yang terdiri daripada ahli-ahli Tingkatan 2, 3, 4 & 5 dan seorang Komander, Wong Li Yen. Pasukan sekolah telah berjaya mendapat Naib Johan.

KEJAYAAN PASUKAN BADMINTON SMK METHODIST (ACS)

Pasukan Badminton SMK Methodist (ACS) telah menyertai Kejohanan Badminton MSSD Seremban 2 dari 20 hingga 22 Mac 2013. Kejohanan tersebut telah diadakan di Dewan SMK Senawang dan disertai oleh 17 peserta dalam setiap kategori yang dipertandingkan. Selepas 10 tahun, pasangan beregu perempuan bawah 15 tahun SMK Methodist (ACS) telah berjaya memenangi gangsa. Mereka adalah Hong Sook Khin dan Joo Hooi Meen.

PROGRAM BACAAN YASIN DAN TAZKIRAH

Program ini telah di adakan pada 15 Mac 2013, mulai pukul 12.30 tgh. di Surau ACS. Pelajar perempuan Islam di dedahkan kepada kemahiran pengurusan masa, isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan moral dan kelakuan. Penceramahnya ialah Pn. Maimunah bt. Ismail dan di bantu oleh Usta. Nor Hayati bt. Nik Yahya.

AKTIVITI PERSATUAN ALAM SEKITAR

Persatuan Alam Sekitar telah menyertai pertandingan ‘THE YOUNG VOICES FOR CONSERVATION’ peringkat kebangsaan, anjuran badan NGO ‘Trees’ (Treat Every Environment Special) dan di taja oleh Affin Bank. Dana sebanyak RM450.00 telah diagihkan kepada pihak sekolah untuk melaksanakan projek Alam Sekitar. Sepuluh orang ahli persatuan telah dipilih untuk melaksanakan projek ‘Takungan Air Hujan’ di sekolah di bawah bimbingan Cik Faridah dan Pn. Subbuletchumy.

Projek ini dipilih bagi mengatasi beberapa masalah yang dikenalpasti di samping dapat mengurangkan bil utiliti bulanan sekolah . Pertandingan telah bermula pada bulan Mac 2013 dan akan berakhir pada bulan November 2013. Pemilihan sekolah dijalankan secara berperingkat berdasarkan skor yang diperoleh melalui bengkel-bengkel yang dianjurkan, penulisan artikel dan kertas konsep projek yang dihasilkan. Setakat ini pasukan sekolah telah Berjaya melangkah ke peringkat kedua dan telah dipilih menyertai bengkel peringkat kedua di Shah Alam pada 30 April 2013.

PELANCARAN BULAN BAHASA KEBANGSAAN DAN KESUSASTERAAN

Bulan Bahasa Kebangsaan dan Kesusasteraan anjuran Panitia Bahasa Melayu telah menghayatinya sepanjang bulan Mac 2013. Pelancaran bulan in telah dilakukan oleh Tuan Pengetua pada 4 Mac 2013 semasa perhimpunan rasmi. Sempena bulan bahasa ini, pelbagai pertandingan telah dianjurkan dan penglibatan murid-murid sungguh menggalakkan.

IN-HOUSE TRAINING FOR ESL TEACHERS

The PTA graciously sponsored an in-house training for all ESL teachers on 2 March 2013. Teachers were enlightened on issues pertaining to the PBS and PMR evaluation and assessments procedures by Mr Joe Peter from SMK King George and Madam Sharifah Noor Haizam from SMK Seri Pagi. Among other things, ESL teachers had a hands-on training session on the marking of sample essay scripts and awarding appropriate band marks. It was indeed an invaluable session for all ESL teachers. The training wrapped up at approximately 12.20 p.m.

SPORTS HOUSE PRACTICE

House Practice for the School Sports began from 5 March – 30 April 2013 at the SRJK(C) San Min school field at 2.30 – 3.45 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday under the supervision of the Sports House teachers. House practice will resume again in June in time for the school sports.

PARENTS TEACHERS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The 30th PTA Annual General meeting was held on 9 March 2013 at 2.00 p.m. The guest of honour was the Executive Director of the Methodist Council of Education, Mr Khor Hong Yin. The event began with short presentations from the school choir and the choral speaking team. This was followed by a traditional malay dance by students from the school cultural society. Thereafter, a power-point presentation which included the school’s academic and co-curricular achievements as well as our infrastructure development were screened for the audience. In his key address, Mr Khor emphasized on the role of the institution of school in the nurturing and character building of young lives. He was visibly pleased and expressed that he was impressed with the achievements as well as the physical developments of the school. He later gave away certificates and prizes to top PMR 2012 examination achievers. The PTA meeting was held soon after light refreshments were served.

SPM RESULTS

The SPM 2012 results were released on 21 March 2013 which stirred a buzz of excitement and anxiety amongst teachers and students. Six students scored straight A’s even though the overall results took a slight dip. We hope for better results this year.

CONDOLENCE

Pulsating ACS expresses its deepest and heartfelt condolence to the family of Madam Habibahbt. Zainal on her demise on 6 March 2013 after a long illness.

GEOGRAPHY MONTH

The Geography Month was launched by our Principal on 4 March 2013 with the theme ‘Save the Earth’. Students took part in an array of competitions befitting the theme which included photography, written quiz, designing recyclable things and colouring a panoramic view of nature. Prizes were given away to winners.

BASKETBALL COMPETITION

ACS hosted the Seremban 2 District Level Basketball Competition on 18-20 March 2013. It was a hectic day for some of our teachers and students who were on duty throughout the competition. Our Girls Under 18 team won the 3rd prize. Well Done!              

APRIL 2013

Pertandingan Kemahiran Pengakap (KEMBORI)

Peringkat Daerah diadakan pada 10 April 2013 di Tapak Perkhemahan Labu Hilir. Sebanyak 15 buah sekolah telah mengambil bahagian. Seramai 13 orang pengakap telah mengambil bahagian dalam pertandingan kemahiran pengakap. Beberapa acara telah dipertandingkan selama dua hari. Antaranya pertolongan cemas, masakan rimba, ikatan dan sebagainya.

Pasukan sekolah telah muncul sebagai johan keseluruhan di zon Seremban 2. Pasukan pengakap muda mendapat tempat ke tiga dalam pertandingan masakan rimba. Johan bagi acara pertolongan cemas, tempat ke tiga bagi projek perintis. Johan bagi pertandingan tapak perkhemahan. Gan Ren Yi pula dipilih sebagai peserta terbaik dalam kem tersebut.

RENJER PUTERI

Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia, Cawangan Negeri Sembilan telah menganjurkan perkhemahan Cabaran Kepimpinan dan Majlis Pandu Puteri Renjer Negeri Sembilan dari 5 April-7 April 2013, bertempat di Bangunan Pandu Puteri Negeri Sembilan.Dua orang pelajar dari sekolah kita, iaitu; Wong Zi Hui dari 4 Setia dan Chan Cheng Hui dari 4A telah menyertai perkhemahan ini. Dalam aktiviti berkumpulan, kedua-dua pelajar ini berjaya memperolehi kedudukan Naib Johan dalam pertandingan cabaran “Teen Leadership Beyond Excitement”.

DISCIPLINE AND HEALTH WEEK

The Discipline and Health Week which stretched from 8-12 April 2013 was launched by our principal Mr. Thong Kok Chaw. Among the activities for the week was a talk on ‘Dangers of Smoking and AIDS’ on 9 April 2013 by Dr. Mohd. Firdaus bin Ujang from the Seremban Health Centre (Pusat Kesihatan Seremban). Students had a deeper insight of health issues related to smoking hazard. On 10 April 2013, a talk on ‘Imprisonment and Caning’ was given by Mr. Royston Chatterton from the Seremban Prison’s Department. Students were enlightened on the degree and severity of a variety of offences committed by people which are deemed punishable by the law. Pulsating ACS reminds all ACSians that prison life is a harsh and merciless one and to live their lives carefully and prudently.

During the week, a ‘Road Safety Exhibition’ was held at the Methodist Centre where newspaper cuttings and pictures of road casualties and accident victims were exhibited. Students were thrilled when they were allowed to sit on the two traffic motorcycles that were also exhibited there. Student motor cyclists were caught off guard when the traffic police on duty at the exhibition did a spot check on their motorcycles as well as their licences. None of them were remanded although stern warnings were issued on errant motorcyclists. To all ACSians, watch out the next time you ride a motorbike to school! You are being watched!

ENGLISH MATHEMATICS SCIENCE MONTH

The EMS Month was launched by the principal on 8 April 2013 with the theme ‘English Across Discipline’ during the school assembly. In his address Mr. Thong Kok Chaw emphasized on the role of the English Language, Mathematics and Science in every field in today’s fast track life. Students took part in a variety of competitions held throughout the month and a Mathematics & Science Exhibition was also held. Prizes were given away to winners.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

On 10 April 2013, the academic staff of ACS was given an edifying talk by Mr. Franklin Morais, a senior lecturer from HELP University College on ‘Stress Management’. Teachers enjoyed the light moment by de-stressing themselves in some fun filled activities. He also gave teachers new insights on how to avoid and manage stress.

KOLAM COMPETITION

The Tamil Language Society of ACS organised the Kolam competition on 11 April 2013 at the PKK. Response from participants, especially non-Indians, was overwhelming. Students and teachers produced brilliant works of art using coloured rice grains. Winners from the various categories were awarded prizes by the Principal. Pulsating ACS congratulates all winners and the advisor of the society Mdm. Susheela Govindarajoo for a job well done.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

Team volunteers from MAKNA, a non-governmental organisation for Cancer Awareness gave a talk to the ACS academic staff on 13 April 2013 on the rising incidence of cancer amongst Malaysians. Lady teachers were given tips on the self examination of breasts for early detection of breast cancer. The session was both educational and informative to everyone present.

NEGERI SEMBILAN SECONDARY SCHOOLS THEATRE COMPETITION 2013

SMK Methodist (ACS) was chosen to organise the Negeri Sembilan Secondary Schools Theatre Competition 2013 with the collaboration of the Negeri Sembilan Education Department (JPNS) and the Negeri Sembilan Culture and Arts Department (JKKN). The Competition was held on 18 April 2013 at the JKKN Auditorium. A total of 9 schools took part in this competition. Our school was awarded the Silver Award (Anugerah Perak) for our presentation entitled ‘Hilang Taring’. One of our students, Melissa Kelvin Razaleigh was awarded the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ from our team of 10 actors/actresses and 5 production crew. Winners’ awards and prizes were given away by the Director of Education Negeri Sembilan, Puan Hajah Kalsom bt Khalid who also officiated the closing ceremony. Pulsating ACS congratulates them and their advisors Madam Hanimah bt. Nawawi and Madam Nadiah bt. Ramli for a job well done.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

This year’s school level Teachers’ Day Celebration was held on 23-05-2013, which was the last day of the Mid-year Examination. Although the celebration was scaled down, a special assembly with the traditional singing of the Teachers Day song was kept and friendly matches & games between teachers and students were held. The principal in his key address reinstated the role of teachers in moulding young lives and bringing about transformation in their mind set. Teachers were feted to a simple meal thereafter.

Laporan Sambutan Hari Koperasi Peringkat Sekolah

Sambutan Hari Koperasi SMK Methodist diadakan mulai dari 24 Jun hingga 27 Jun 2013. Aktiviti- aktiviti yang dijalankan sempena Hari Koperasi ialah perhimpunan mingguan, nyanyian lagu koperasi “Semangat Koperasi” , bacaan perutusan, penanaman pokok bunga oleh pengetua selaku Pengerusi Koperasi, edaran tanda peringatan, perlantikan AJK Jualan sesi 2013/2014, Anugerah Koperator Terbaik Pelajar Lelaki, Anugerah Koperator Terbaik Pelajar Perempuan, Pameran Produk Koperasi sempena Pameran Seni dan Hasil Alam Semulajadi. Saudara Teh Jian Zhi telah dianugerahkan sebagai Koperator Terbaik Pelajar Lelaki, manakala saudari Loh Xue Wei pun telah dianugerahkan sebagai Koperator Terbaik Pelajar Perempuan.

Konvensyen Pembudayaan Keusahawanan peringkat sekolah telah berlangsung pada 3 Julai 2013. Pasukan “Produk Koperasi Sekolah Generasi ke-5” telah muncul sebagai johan dengan produknya, Sarung Ilmu. Manakala, pasukan “Gorgeous Girls” telah muncul sebagai naib johan dengan produknya,“Gorgeous Rossy Multipurpose Bookmark”. Pasukan yang mendapat tempat ketiga ialah pasukan “Sparkling Girls” dengan produknya, “Bottle Charms”.

Pertandingan Kemahiran Pengakap Peringkat Negeri (JUASSEH)

Pertandingan ini telah diadakan pada 21 Jun 2013 hingga 24 Jun 2013, bertempat di Kem Rimba Ilmu, Negeri Sembilan. Pasukan pengakap SMK Methodist (ACS) yang terdiri daripada 16 ahli pengakap telah mengambil bahagian dalam pertandingan tersebut.Pasukan pengakap SMK Methodist (ACS) telah berjaya memenangi beberapa anugerah. Antara pencapaian untuk Pengakap Remaja ialah naib johan untuk pertandingan kawad kaki, tempat ketiga untuk pertolongan cemas.Untuk Pengakap Muda pula, berjaya menjadi naib johan untuk aktiviti Malam Kebudayaan, naib johan untuk kawad kaki dan tempat ketiga untuk pertolongan cemas.

Perkhemahan BSMM Seremban 1 & 2

Perkhemahan ini telah berlangsung dari 17 hingga 18 Jun 2013 dan bertempat di Agro Park, Rantau. Pasukan sekolah terdiri daripada saudari Chui Jia Ning, saudara Lee Zhi Cheng dan saudara Justin Lim. Saudari Chui Jia Ning telah muncul sebagai johan dalam Pertandingan Pertolongan Cemas dan pertandingan Gajet. Dia juga muncul sebagai Peserta Perempuan Terbaik. Saudara Justin Lim pula telah memenangi tempat ketiga dalam Pertandingan Pertolongan cemas. Manakala naib johan dimenangi oleh Saudara Lee Zhi Cheng dalam pertandingan Kawad Kaki.

Anugerah BSMM Peringkat Kebangsaan 2013

Anugerah BSMM Peringkat Kebangsaan telah diadakan pada 29 Jun 2013 di Istana Hinggap Seremban. Anugerah tersebut disampaikan oleh DYMM Yang DiPertua Besar. Seramai 10 ahli BSMM SMK Methodist ACS telah menerima anugerah ini. Pingat Jasa Terpuji telah dianugerahkan kepada saudari Chong Heng May, saudari Tan Zuanne, saudari Yap Zuoo Chi, saudari Lee Wen Jeng, saudari Lim Chee Yun, saudari Chin Wen Shen, saudari Loh Xue Wei dan saudari Wong Li Yen. Sijil Kepujian pula dianugerahkan kepada saudari Lee Shu Qi dan Saudari Lee Chin Thing.

Laporan Pengelolaan Perkhemahan Perdana Unit Unifom SMK Methodist ( ACS) 2013

Perkhemahan Perdana SMK Methodist (ACS) telah diadakan pada 14 Jun hingga 15 Jun 2013, bertempat di sekolah. Perkhemahan tersebut berlangsung selama 2 hari,iaitu dari Jumaat hingga Sabtu. Perkhemahan ini melibatkan semua badan beruniform yang berdaftar seperti Kadet Polis, Renjer Puteri. Pandu Puteri, Pengakap, Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia, Kadet Remaja, Puteri Islam, dan Boys‘ & Girls‘ Brigade. Program perkhemahan ini dianjurkan bertujuan untuk melahirkan generasi muda yang seimbang dari segi jasmani, rohani, emosi dan intelek.

Program Perkhemahan Perdana bukan sahaja dapat mencungkil bakat dan potensi dalam diri pelajar, juga dapat memupuk semangat kerja berpasukan dan sifat kepimpinan yang cemerlang. Dengan adanya perkhemahan ini, dapatlah pelajar mengetahui akan kepentingan sifat bekerjasama antara satu sama lain di samping hidup berdikari. Perkhemahan ini telah dijalankan dengan jayanya dan mendapat sokongan dan kerjasama daripada pelajar-pelajar. Seterusnya telah mencapai objektif perkhemahan ini. Kebanyakan pelajar-pelajar gembira dengan perkhemahan ini dan berharap mereka dapat mengikuti aktiviti ini pada tahun-tahun akan datang. Pihak pengelola amat menghargai segala bantuan daripada semua pihak termasuklah Pihak Pengurusan SMK Methodist ACS, guru-guru, pelajar-pelajar serta ibu bapa serta mereka yang terlibat secara langsung atau tidak langsung dalam menjayakan Perkhemahan Perdana Unit Uniform SMK Methodist ACS 2013 ini.

Dreams Come True

The Principal’s and the Senior Assistant (I)’s aspiration to set up a school Audio Visual Room and a Music Room was realized beginning June 2013 when ground works for the mega projects began.

The projects, targeted for completion by October 2013 will complete the school’s infrastructure. Teaching and learning will be geared to new heights with the screening of films and videos in a comfortable learning environment. Students too will be able to practice music in a more spacious room with added facilities. This indeed is the final frontier for ACS as we lack precious land space for developments. Well done to our Principal and Senior Assistant 1 who dared to dream big.

Art, Craft And Natural Resources Exhibition

This exhibition which aimed at unveiling students’ creativity, handicraft skills and photography talents was held on 27-06-2013 at the Methodist Centre.

The event was jointly organized by the school Art & Craft and Geography panels.A variety of students’ exhibits as well as products from natural resources, photography and pictures of nature were exhibited. The principal, who officiated the event and the senior assistant were later presented individual portrait of themselves, drawn by Mr. Redzuan bin Abdul Aziz.

Poetry Recitation And Story Telling Competition

This competition, organized by the English Language Panel was held on 19-06-2013 for the Form Remove, One and Two students with the objective of opening the doors of opportunity for students to discover and sharpen their oratory and public speaking skills whilst discovering the depth and beauty of the English Language through poetry. Students enjoyed this competition while the audience marveled at their talents. The principal gave away prizes to winners from different categories.

Excellent Service Award

The ACS community extends its congratulatory wishes to the Senior Assistant 1, Madam Chuan Teik Mei for being awarded the Excellent Service Award by the Ministry of Education. The award includes a Certificate and a Bank Simpanan Nasional Bond. This award is not only a personal achievement for Madam Chuan but an added accolade for ACS which has been put on the same pedestal as other renowned schools throughout Malaysia. Well done Madam Chuan!

National Secondary Schools Theatre Competition 2013

On 28-06-2013, our multi talented and versatile theatre actress, Melissa Kelvin Razaleigh represented Negeri Sembilan in the National Secondary Schools Theatre Competition 2013, organized by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, in Kangar, Perlis. She was awarded the Anugerah Emas for her performance in Bangsawan Muzikal (Malay royal court musical performance) ACSians are proud of her as she was one of the selected few who represented NSDK at the national level. Well done Melissa!

State Level Chinese Language Writing Competition

In the State Level Chinese Language Writing Competition organised by the Negeri Sembilan Teo Chew Society, three of our students won convincingly in all the categories that they took part in. Annie Lau Leiyen and Winnie Hooi Lei Mei emerged as the champion and 1st runner up respectively, in the writing category. Choong Yong Chee was the 1st runner up for both the writing and calligraphy categories. Well done!

Malam Unggun Api

Pada 6 Julai 2013, pasukan pengakap SMK Methodist (ACS) telah mengadakan unggun api bertemakan “Passion To Excel”. Aktiviti ini disambut pada setiap tahun. Aktiviti ini turut diambil bahagian oleh wakil pengakap dari sekolah-sekolah lain.Aktiviti ini dirasmikan oleh Pengetua Cemerlang SMK Methodist (ACS). Pelbagai persembahan telah disediakan oleh ahli pasukan pengakap sekolah. Aktiviti ini telah berjalan dengan lancar dan jayanya.  

Pada 23 March 2013, pasukan pengakap SMK Methodist (ACS) telah mengadakan perjumpaan bulanan di tapak bola keranjang sekolah. Ahli pengakap dari semua tingkatan telah bersama – sama berkumpul. Antara aktiviti yang dijalankan adalah seperti mengemaskan bilik pengakap dan kawad kaki. Selain itu, pasukan pengakap SMK Methodist (ACS) telah menjalankan latihan fizikal.

Gotong Royong

A massive spring cleaning was carried out in the whole school on 12-07-2013 in preparation for Parents’ Open Day. Students and teachers worked vigorously while having fun. Lessons resumed at 8.10 AM.

Briefing On Discipline

On 16-07-2013 and 26-07-2013, the school Disciplinary Board held short briefings on school discipline for ACS male students. It is hoped that with such awareness of the importance of self-discipline, the school discipline problems will eventually be curbed.

Health Care

ACS Form 3 female students were given the ‘Anti Tetanus’ injection from 19-22 July 2013 at the school library. It is hoped that such health care privileges given by the Ministry of Health will help students stay healthy and fit.

Negeri Sembilan Wushu Championship

The Negeri Sembilan State level Wushu Championship for secondary schools was organised by the Negeri Sembilan Chin Woo Athletic Association. Our student, Lam Pei Moon emerged as the 1st runner-up in the championship. Kudos to her.

Massive Rewiring Of The School

A massive re-wiring of the entire secondary school blocks have been carried out beginning July 2013. It is hoped that with this new wiring, the ACS community will enjoy a smooth power supply without breakdowns and blackouts.

Appointment Of Senior Librarians For 2013/14 Session

Appointment of a new committee of librarians comprising present Form 4 students was held in a brief ceremony during the school assembly on 22-07-2013. The principal presented these new librarians with a special badge to signify their new roles.

Career Guidance Exhibition

A career guidance exhibition was held on 18-07-2013 at the Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum. This exhibition was relevant and informative to all Form 5 students who will be leaving school at the end of the year. Students were updated on courses available as well as current job market trends. Career guidance experts and counselors were at hand to guide students to make right choices.

Co-Curricular Annual General Meetings

The Co-Curricular AGMs were held from 7.30am – 8.05am on the following dates:

17-07-2013 – Uniform Units.

18-07-2013 – Clubs and Societies.

19-07-2013 – Sports Clubs and Games.

Students nominated their new leaders and committee members during these meetings. Classes resumed to normal thereafter.

University of New South Wales English Test

The UNSW English Test was held at the school library on 16-07-2013. A total of 40 candidates, including 2 external candidates from SMK Chan Wa sat for this test. These candidates ranged from Form One to Form Five students. We hope that exposure to such high profile English Tests will equip students with greater confidence to face new global challenges and the mastery of the English Language.

Senior Librarians Step Down

The Form 5 school librarians officially stepped down from their library duties on 15-07-2013.

In a brief ceremony during the school assembly, they were awarded certificates by our principal. Outstanding and committed librarians were given special awards.

Down Memory Lane

On 15-07-2013, a former teacher of ACS set foot on ACS soil after a long absence. Mrs. Ng Shin Koy who taught in ACS for 36 years, retired in 1974 and now resides in Australia. She was visibly happy to see the remarkable transformation that ACS has undergone. We wish her good health and happy memories.

Parents’ Open Day

On 13-07-2013, ACS held its Open Day for parents and class teachers to sit together and discuss their children’s academic progress and other school issues. Many parents turned up with much anxiety and anticipation. Amicable discussions were held on issues pertaining to students’ academic and co-curricular performances. The day ended well with relieved parents looking happy and satisfied.

Annual School Sports

The Annual School Sports, was held on 08-07-2013 at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, Seremban. The event culminated the months of house practice held at SRJK © San Min, Seremban. The principal officiated the ceremony. Students as well as teachers had fun during the event. The champion sports house this year was Bowmar while Jones was the best dressed in the march past event.

ACSOSA – Excellent And Needy Students Cash Aid

Students who performed excellently in public & school exams and financially needy students were given cash aid by the President of the ACS Old Students’ Association, Miss Rebecca Beckus. It is hoped that such financial assistance and reward would spur our students to excel further.

Full Attendance To School

On 02-07-2013, students with full attendance track record were given KFC vouchers worth RM10.00 each during the school assembly. Our principal praised these students for being role models to other students, especially to those with high absenteeism rate. Pulsating ACS congratulates these students.

Installation Of The Head Prefect And Assistants

The Head Prefect and Assistant Head Prefects for 2013/14 were installed in a brief ceremony during the school assembly on 01-07-2013 with the simultaneous stepping down of the Form 5 prefects. Kanagaprabhu s/o Kanagambaram took the helm as Head Prefect assisted by Tristan Chang Jun Han and Annie Lau Leiyen as Assistant 1 and 2 respectively. Pulsating ACS congratulates them and extends its gratitude and well wishes to the outgoing Form 5 Prefects.

Malaysia Day Celebration

The month long Independence Day and Malaysia Day Celebration at the school level was launched by the principal on 23-08-2013 during a special assembly and was officially declared close on Friday, 13-09-2013, also during a special assembly. Students turned up in colourful regalia which heightened the closing ceremony. Patriotic songs were sung by both teachers and students while they waved little flags, adding fun to the celebration. Classes resumed to normal thereafter.

Form One English Diagnostic Test

This test was held simultaneously for all Form One students on 28-08-2013 from both the morning and afternoon sessions. Students’ performance in this test will allow teachers to set them according to their potentials.

Retired

ACSians bade farewell to Puan Hajah Siti Zaleha bt Ayob on the occasion of her retirement on 20-09-2013. In a brief assembly, Pn Zaleha was given a grand farewell by the principal, senior assistant 1, the administrative staff, the afternoon session teachers and students amidst pomp & splendor. Best wishes to you and stay healthy Puan Zaleha.

Solat Hajat And Motivation Programme

Muslim students of ACS had a special programme of blessings and motivation for their upcoming exams on 21-09-2013. They were also feted to a belated Hari Raya fest on the same day. Our Muslims teachers ensured the smooth flow of the event. The Senior Assistant 1joined them for lunch in the canteen thereafter.

Senior Prefects’ Farewell Function

The Form 5 prefects were given a farewell ‘brunch’ by the prefectural board to commemorate their services to the school. The occasion which was graced by our principal and attended by some teachers, was held at the Royal Bintang Hotel on 21-09-2013. Everyone enjoyed themselves to a good spread of food as they relaxed and watched some of the prefects display their talents on stage.

A massive spring cleaning was carried out in the whole school on 6.01.2012 so as to enable students to kick off 2012 in a conducive learning environment. Students and teachers worked vigorously while having fun. They quickly settled down during the 3rd period when lessons resumed as usual.

Academic Recognition.

On 9.01.2012, our Principal awarded Academic Certificate of Excellence to all top students who excelled in the final year exam 2011. This indeed is a boost for students to work harder as their hard work does not go unnoticed.

Nilam Certificate Presentation

Top readers for the Nilam programme were awarded “Nilam Certificate” by the Principal-par Excellence on 13 & 16 January 2012, With such an award it is hoped that students are encouraged to read more so as to go up the certificate hierarchy.

Promotion for New Membership.

A healthy and competitive campaign to recruit new members for Co-Curricular activities was carried out at the Methodist Centre on the following dates:-

Senior members were seen vigorously promoting their respective society/club to our new naïve juniors who were easily lured.

Pertandingan Kaligrafi Cina/ Jawi/ Tamil sempena Tahun Baru Cina 2012 telah diadakan pada 20hb Januari 2012, di gelanggang bola keranjang mulai pukul 7.30 hingga 10.30pagi. Pertandingan Kaligrafi ini telah dirasmikan oleh Pengetua Cemerlang SMK Methodist(ACS) En.Thong Kok Chaw. Pertandingan ini mendapat sambutan yang mengalakkan dalam kalangan pelajar dan guru-guru.

Perlantikan Pengawas Tingkatan 4

Perlantikan pengawas telah berlangsung pada 13 Februari 2012. Seramai 40 calon disahkan menjadi pengawas tingkatan 4. Acara dimulakan dengan pemberian tali leher oleh Pengetua. Akhirnya, para pengawas telah melafazkan ikrar pengawas.

Laporan Kejohanan Bola Keranjang Peringkat Daerah Seremban 2012.

Kejohanan Bola Keranjang Peringkat Daerah Seremban Zon 1 dan Zon 2 telah dikelolakan oleh SMK Methodist (ACS), Seremban mulai 14 Februari sehingga 16 Februari 2012. Pertandingan ini telah dijalankan selama tiga hari. Kejohanan ini disertai oleh 24 sekolah, iaitu 11 sekolah dari Zon 1 dan 13 sekolah dari Zon 2.Majlis Penutupan dan Penyampaian hadiah telah diadakan pada 16 Februari 2012. Majlis Penutupan rasmi telah dilakukan oleh Pegawai Pelajaran Daerah Seremban.

Sambutan Maullidur Rasul

Sambutan Maullidur Rasul telah diadakan pada 4 Februari 2012 bersamaan hari Sabtu di bilik 5B dan 5I.Penceramah Hj.Affendy b.Mohd Nor telah memberikan ceramah beliau.Seramai 70 pelajar daripada tingkatan 1 hinga 5 dan semua guru Islam telah menghadiri dan menjayakan sambutan Maullidur Rasul.

Program Bacaan Yasin dan Tazkirah

Program Bacaan Yasin dan Tazkirah untuk 34 pelajar dan 20 orang guru perempuan Islam telah diadakan pada 17 Februari 2012 , mulai pukul 9 pagi hingga pukul12.30 tengah hari,bertempat di Surau.Penceramah Pn.Hajah Leha dari Unit Dakwah JPNS telah menyampaikan ceramah beliau dengan jayanya.

Mesyuarat Agung PIBG

Mesyuarat Agung PIBG tahun ini telah diadakan secara ringkas pada 25 Februari 2012 di dewan sekolah. Lebih kurang 100 orang ibu bapa, penjaga dan semua guru ACS telah menghadiri mesyuarat yang diadakan mulai pukul 2.00 petang.Pelbagai masalah telah dibincang dan telah berjaya diselesaikan dengan licin.AJK baru telah dilantik dengan sebulat suara.

Pertandingan Persahabatan Bola Keranjang

Pada 4 Februari 2012 suatu pertandingan persahabatan telah diadakan di sekolah. Pasukan ACS telah bertemu pasukan SMK St.Paul dan pada 8 Februari 2012 pasukan ACS telah bertemu pasukan dari SMK Sains.Dalam pertandingan ini ketiga-tiga pasukan pun telah menonjolkan kehandalan masing-masing. Pertandinga persahabatan ini telah membuka ruang kepada pasukan kita untuk mengetahui kelemahan dan kekuatan yang dimiliki oleh setiap pemain.Lebih banyak pertandingan persahabatan seperti ini dapat membangkitkan semangat kesukanan dalam kalangan pemain kita.

Chinese New Year Fiesta

The Chinese New Year Fiesta was held at the Pusat Ko-Kurikulum on 11.02.2012 at 7.30pm. The celebration was officiated by our Principal and was attended by the Senior Assistant 1, SA Co-Curricular Affairs and other members of the ACS staff. Students presented a good blend of modern and cultural performances. Good food was also served. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Towards Better English.

The English Language Panel organized an in-house training on the teaching and learning of the Literature component for both SPM and PMR teachers. Mr.Devaraj Ramoo from SMK Tunku Durah, Seremban and Mr. Xavier from SMK Rantau gave the ESL teachers a deep insight on Methodology,Testing and Evaluation and Questioning Strategies for the literature component. Breakfast was served during the break time. It was indeed an edifying session.

Appointment of Class Monitors and Assistant Class Monitors.

Class Monitors and Assistant were officially appointed during the school assembly on 20.02.2012. These young leaders were presented with a special badge to distinguish their position in school. We really appreciate the good work carried out by them.

Afternoon Sesion Prefect’s Course

The afternoon session Prefects were given a short leadership course on 22.02.2012 at the School Library. It is hoped that such a course will equip them with confidence to discharge their responsibilities as School Prefects.

Fire Drill

The first Annual Fire Drill was held on 28.02.2012. A demonstration on how to use the fire extinguisher and to put out a fire was given by a team of fire fighters from the Seremban Firefighters Department. Teachers and students were enlightened on the different kinds of fire extinguishers and their specific purpose in putting out a fire.

Bulan Bahasa Kebangsaan 2012.

Bulan Bahasa Kebangsaan telah dilancarkan mulai 5.03.2012 bertema Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa. Sepanjang bulan ini telah diadakan beberapa aktiviti pertandingan iaitu mendeklamasikan sajak, Menulis kata-kata hikmat, pertandingan silangkata dan kuiz peribahasa. Pemenang-pemenang telah menerima hadiah wang tunai.

Majlis Tahunan Pengawas

Majlis tahunan pengawas telah berlangsung pada 17 Mac 2012.Antara yang telah hadir ialah pengawas dari sekolah-sekolah berdekatan, guru-guru, bekas pengawas sekolah serta wakil-wakil Persatuan.Beberapa persembahan menarik juga telah dipersembahkan.Majlis ini diadakan secara meriah.Majlis ini diakhiri dengan tarian terbuka pada pukul 11.00 malam.

Laporan Prekemahan pengakap

Pada 11hb Mac hingga 13hb Mac 2012,Pasukan Kelima Seremban Timur telah mengadakan perkhemahan di SMK Methodist (ACS).Perkhemahan ini ialah untuk melatih dan mengajar peserta perkhemahan dengan ilmu pengakap.Seramai 75 ahli pengakap telah menyertai perkhemahan ini.3 orang guru penasihat iaitu En.Othaman, En.Kahirul dan Cik Lee Meng Leng telah turut bersama sepanjang perkhemahan ini.Perkhemahan ini diadakan dengan jayanya.

SPM Results

The SPM 2011 results were released on 21.03.2012. There was a buzz of excitement among teachers and students. The results showed a marked improvement in 16 subjects. These 16 subjects improved in percentage passes with 7 subjects achieving above 90% passes. Another 7 subjects obtained 100% passes while 4 subjects improved in the percentage distinctions. A total of 14 subjects improved in their Subject Average Grade. The percentage of students who passed all subjects was 54.4%; an improvement of 13.9% from the SPM 2010 results. The Average School Grade was 5.16 which was an improvement of 0.33. This is the best SPM results the school has attained in recent years and ACS is placed in the first rank (band) out of 16 ranks (bands). The principal and the Senior Assistant I were visibly delighted and were all smiles as they gave away the result slip to top scorers. Congratulations to the school administration, teachers and students.

Geography Month

The Geography Month with the theme “Save the Earth” was launched by the Principal on 5.03.2012. Students were reminded to keep the environment clean to help save the earth. An array of competitions was held and attractive prizes were given away.

Health Care

ACS students were given the ‘Anti Tetanus injection’ from 6-8 March 2012. On 9.03.2012, female students were given the HPV injection. It is hoped that with such health care privileges given by the Ministry of Health, students will stay fit and healthy.

Down Memory Lane

ACSians extended a warm welcome to Rev ST Peter Lim, the ex- principal of ACS on 23-03-2012. Rev ST Peter Lim headed the school from1961-1965. Our principal and the Senior Assistant 1 took him around ACS to recap the school’s historic past and its glorious present. The Rev marvelled at the various infrastructure that have been upgraded since he last step foot in ACS. He was later ushered for tea with our principal and the school administration. Members of the School Editorial Board later interviewed him. Pulsating ACS wishes him good health and warm memories

Perkhemahan Intergrasi Pasukan Badan Beruniform Bukan Agensi Kerajaan Sekolah Menengah Peringkat Negeri

Perkhemahan Intergrasi Pasukan Badan Beruniform Bukan Agensi Kerajaan Sekolah Menengah Peringkat Negeri telah diadakan di Juasseh, Negeri Sembilan pada 27-30 Mac 2012. Perkhemahan ini disertai oleh Yap Zuoo Chi dan Chin Wen Shen. Beberapa aktiviti telah diadakan. Dalam Pertandingan Pertolongan Cemas, peserta terbaik dimenangi oleh Yap Zuoo Chi.

Perkhemahan BSMM Peringkat Daerah

Perkhemahan BSMM Peringkat Daerah telah diadakan di Agro Park pada 29-30 Mac 2012. Perkhemahan ini disertai oleh Tan Sheh Jing, Chanel Chua, Chong Su Leng dan Woon Jie Xin. Dalam Pertandingan Kawad Kaki, pasukan sekolah telah menjadi Johan dan mendapat Naib Johan dalam Pertandingan Kem Kraf serta Tempat Ketiga dalam Pertandingan Pertolongan Cemas.

Pertandingan Kawad Kaki NGO

Pertandingan Kawad Kaki NGO Peringkat Daerah Seremban telah diadakan di Jabatan Pertahanan Awam pada 10 April 2012. Seramai 31 orang ahli termasuk komander pasukan , saudari Wong Li Yen telah mengambil bahagian dalam pertandingan ini untuk mewakili unit BSMM SMK Methodist (ACS), Seremban. Pertandingan ini diadakan untuk menguji tahap kemahiran setiap sekolah dalam kawad kaki. Pertandingan yang sengit berlaku antara semua pasukan sekolah yang bertanding. Segala usaha pasukan membuahkan hasil apabila pasukan kawad kaki NGO BSMM ACS diumumkan sebagai Juara dan Anugerah Ketua Platun terbaik dianugerahkan kepada komander pasukan, saudari Wong Li Yen.

Anugerah Kokurikulum Terbilang Negeri Sembilan

Penyampaian Anugerah Kokurikulum Terbilang Negeri Sembilan telah diadakan pada 16 April 2012 di Allson Klana Resort. Anugerah ini dimenangi oleh pasukan BSMM ACS berasaskan pencapaian dalam tiga pertandingan utama BSMM pada tahun lepas. Antara pencapaian pasukan BSMM ialah :

Majlis Pengesahan Ahli-Ahli Baru dan Ulang Tahun BSMM ke-52

Majlis Pengesahan Ahli-ahli Baru dan Ulang Tahun BSMM yang ke-52 telah berlangsung pada 28 April 2012 di Dewan SMK Methodist (ACS) Seremban. Majlis dimulakan dengan ucapan pengerusi BSMM bagi tahun 2011/2012, saudara Deswin Siow, Ketua Guru Penasihat BSMM, Pn. Ong Geok Mooi, Pengetua Cemerlang ACS, Encik Thong Kok Chaw dan tetamu khas, Encik Ritakamal. Kemudian, Encik Ritakamal dengan sukacitanya mengesahkan ahli-ahli BSMM Tingkatan 1 yang baru. Majlis diteruskan dengan penyampaian anugerah kepada ahli-ahli BSMM yang cemerlang dalam peperiksaan PMR dan SPM tahun lalu.Seterusnya beberapa persembahan yang menarik juga telah dipersembahkan. Akhirnya, semua tetamu dijemput menjamu selera hidangan sate sebelum bersurai.

English Mathematics and Science Month

The English Mathematics and Science Month was officially launched by our Principal-par excellence Mr.Thong Kok Chaw on 2.04.2012 with the theme “Better English For Holistic Education”. In his key address, Mr.Thong Kok Chaw emphasized on the role of the English Language in every specialized field especially in Mathematics and Science. Students had the privilege of taking part in various competitions held throughout the month.

Discipline and Health Week

The Discipline and Health Week which stretched from 9-13 April 2012 was launched by our Principal-par Excellence Mr.Thong Kok Chaw. Talks were given by personnels from the Prison’s Department on issues of imprisonment. Students were also enlightened on anti-narcotics and drug abuse by a speaker from the Police Force. A canine demonstration was held on the 12.04.2012. It was fun watching specially trained anti-narcotics dog taking instructions from their instructors and tracking down hidden narcotics. Students had a deeper understanding of the harsh realities of life and were advised to lead careful and disciplined lifestyles. An exhibition on Corporal Punishment and Imprisonment was also held at the Methodist Centre on 17.04.2012.

Synonyms and Antonyms Competition

In conjunction with the English Mathematics and Science Month, the class based Synonyms and Antonyms Competition was held. This was the first time such a competition was held. Students had a fun time giving the synonym and antonym from the given set of root words. A winner from each class was presented a cash reward of RM5.00

What is PISA?

PISA or Programme for International Students Assessment is a programme sponsored by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development(OECD) to assess students preparedness for adult life and also to gauge their Mathematical, Scientific, Problem Solving and Reading Literacy. Eight schools in Negeri Sembilan were selected by the Ministry of Education to carry out this programme and ACS was one of them. On 17-04-2012, 35 of our students (born in 1996) were selected randomly to take the written assessment and 14 among them were chosen to take the Computer Base Assessment. The results indicate Malaysian students learning preparedness.

Pertandingan Kawad Kaki NGO Peringkat Daerah

Pertandingan Kawad Kaki NGO Peringkat Daerah telah diadakan di Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Labu pada 10 April 2012.Pertandingan ini disertai oleh 30 orang ahli BSMM yang terdiri daripada ahli-ahli Tingkatan 2, 3, 4, & 5 dan seorang Komander, Wong Li Yen. Pasukan sekolah telah mendapat Johan dan Anugerah Ketua Platun Terbaik dimenangi oleh Wong Li Yen.

Teachers Day Celebration

Teachers Days, celebrated on 16.05.2012 coincided with the Mid-Year Examination 2012. Our school celebrated it on a modest scale. In his key address in a special assembly held at the Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum, the principal highlighted the significant role and sacrifices of teachers in moulding young lives. Teachers also sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Madam Rahi Mahyati bt Nordin whose birthday falls on the same date. The staff was feted to a sumptuous meal prepared by Madam Siti Zabedah bt Abdul Manaf. Everyone enjoyed themselves

Jambori Negeri Sembilan Laporan ke 10

Pada 26 - 28 Mei 2012, Pengakap Kumpulan 05 Seremban Timur telah melaksanakan aktiviti Kem Jambori Negeri Sembilan ke-10 (JEMNAS X) di Bukit Putus, Kuala Pilah. Beberapa aktiviti seperti mendirikan khemah, forum pengakap, aktiviti lasak, halangan komando dan perjalanan sebanyak 5km berhalang diadakan. Acara kemuncak adalah Malam Kebudayaan. Pada hari Selasa, 29 Mei 2012, majlis tersebut tamat pada jam 12 tengah hari.

Karnival Keusahawanan Koperasi Sekolah 2012 Peringkat Negeri Sembilan

 Pada 5 – 6 Mei 2012, Karnival Keusahawanan Koperasi Sekolah Peringkat Negeri Sembilan telah diadakan di Kompleks Belia dan Sukan, Paroi, Seremban sempena sambutan Tahun Koperasi Antarabangsa. Dalam majlis itu, penyampaian anugerah dan pengiktirafan diberi kepada ahli-ahli koperator dan koperasi dari sekolah-sekolah Negeri Sembilan. Dua orang koperator dari sekolah ACS berjaya meraih anugerah. Puan Rahimahyati binti Nordin dianugerahkan Koperator Guru Terbaik NSDK 2011. Beliau mendapat sebuah ‘plaque’, cek bernilai RM1000.00, sebuah hamper dan Sijil. Pelajar Bee Swen Ning pula dianugerahkan Koperator Pelajar Perempuan Terbaik NSDK 2011. Dia mendapat hadiah ‘plaque’, cek bernilai RM500.00, sebuah hamper dan sijil. Warga ACS berasa bangga atas kejayaan mereka. Tahniah diucapkan kepada mereka.

Jun 2012

Minggu Pusat Sumber Sekolah (PSS) sememangnya telah menjadi satu aktiviti yang mesti dijalankan dan dimasukkan dalam takwim sesebuah sekolah. Pada tahun ini Minggu PSS sekolah ini telah diadakan pada 25-29.6.2012. Pelbagai aktiviti telah dijalankan dalam minggu tersebut, antara aktiviti itu ialah pertandingan teka silang kata, menulis ulasan buku, dan menghasilkan bahan bantu mengajar dalam kalangan guru berasaskan Ms. Power Point. Dalam pertandingan ini, En. Risnoalpiyan b. Hassan telah berjaya di tempat pertama, yang telah menghasilkan bahan bantu mengajar dalam mata pelajaran Perdagangan, sementara tempat kedua dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Moral pula dimenangi oleh En. Lai Nan Poh dan tempat ketiga ialah Cik Nurul Ain bt. Bahari dalam mata pelajaran bahasa Melayu.

Dalam pertandingan meminjam bahan bantu mengajar dari bilik BBM pula, Cik Faridah Hashim mendapat tempat pertama, Pn. Azizah binti Ahmad mendapat tempat kedua, dan Pn. Lai Suit Moi mendapat tempat ketiga.

Kuiz Undang-undang Kemanusiaan Antarabangsa Peringkat Daerah

Kuiz Undang-undang Kemanusiaan Antarabangsa Peringkat Daerah telah diadakan di Akademi Latihan BSMM pada 23 Jun 2012. Pertandingan ini telah disertai oleh Tan Zuanne, Chin Wen Shen, Yap Zuoo Chi dan Tristan Chang. Dalam pertandingan ini, pasukan sekolah telah mendapat Naib Johan.

PROGRAM MINGGU PENDIDIKAN MORAL DAN AGAMA ISLAM

Program ini telah diadakan dengan jayanya mulai 25/6/2012 hingga 9/7/2012.Semua pelajar SMK (Methodist) ACS sesi pagi dan petang telah mengambil bahagian. Upacara Pelancaran telah djialankan pada 25/6/2012.

Pelbagai pertandingan dan acara yang menarik telah dijalankan . Program ini berjaya menerapkan nilai-nilai murni untuk melahirkan pelajar yang cinta akan perpaduan dan mampu menghayati cara hidup bermoral dalam kehidupan serta berjaya melahirkan model insan yang beraspirasi, beretika dan bermoral.

PERKHEMAHAN PERDANA UNIT UNIFORM PERINGKAT SEKOLAH

Perkhemahan Perdana telah diadakan dengan jayanya pada 15 dan 16 Jun 2012 di SMK (Methodist ) ACS. Seramai 94 murid dari semua unit beruniform telah mengambil bahagian.Objektif perkhemahan ini adalah untuk mengenali konsep perkhemahan dan pendedahan tentang kualiti kepimpinan.Seterusnya menanamkan sikap bekerjasama dan bertanggungjawab dalam melaksanakan sesuatu tugas yang diberikan dan mewujudkan kemesraan dan mengeratkan silaturrahim antara unit uniform.

Pelbagai aktiviti seperti demo, pertandingan mendirikan khemah, persembahan kebudayaan, Kursus kawad kaki, kursus motivasi,kursus pertolongan cemas ,kursus ikatan &simpulan , membina gadget dan telematch telah didakan.

Majlis perasmian telah didakan pada 15/6/12 ,pada pukul 8.30 malam oleh pengetua Cemerlang En.Thong Kok Chaw. Barisan pengurusan, guru-guru penasihat,guru-guru dan AJK perkhemahan telah turut memeriahkan majlis ini.Majlis penyampaian hadiah dan majlis penutup telah diadakan pada hari Sabtu pukul 5.00 petang.

Penarafan Pengakap Di Raja

Pada 4 - 7 Jun 2012, SMK Methodist (ACS) telah menghantar seramai 16 ahli pengakap ke penatarafan Pengakap Di Raja di Bukit Putus. Di perkhemahan ini pengakap sekolah kita telah diuji dalam kemahiran dan ilmu pengakap. Pada hari terakhir, semua pengakap mendapat sijil penyertaan. Jumlah peserta Pengakap Di Raja semakin bertambah berbanding dengan tahun-tahun yang lepas. Ini menunjukkan qualiti pengakap sekolah kita semakin baik.

Sambutan Minggu Koperasi Peringkat Sekolah

Sambutan Minggu Koperasi peringkat sekolah telah berjaya di adakan dari 26 - 29 Jun 2012. Antara aktiviti pelancaran adalah penanaman pokok oleh Tuan Pengetua semasa Perhimpunan rasmi pada 26 Jun. Para guru bersama pelajar telah menyanyikan lagu ‘Semangat Koperasi’. AJK Koperasi menghadiahkan guru-guru dengan produk baru mereka ‘Creative Cellphone Pouch’ sebagai tanda kenangan. AJK Jualan Koperasi juga menjalankan aktiviti ekonomi dengan pelbagai jualan seperti makanan ringan dan barangan hiasan sepanjang minggu itu.

Karnival Bahasa Tamil Peringkat Negeri

Karnival Bahasa Tamil Peringkat Negeri telah diadakan di SMK Dato Mohd Said, Nilai pada 30 Jun 2012.Pasukan sekolah kita yang mengambil bahagian dalam Pertandingan Forum Remaja berjaya mendapat Naib Johan. Tahniah diucapkan kepada mereka dan guru pembimbing mereka Puan Sushila Govinda Rajoo.

Gotong Royong

A massive spring cleaning was carried out in the school on 29-06-2012. Students worked vigorously under class teachers’ supervision, cleaning both the inside and the outside surrounding of their respective classrooms. This ‘gotong-royong’ was held in anticipation of Parents’ Day. Everyone had a fun time . Lessons resumed to normal soon after.

Staff Development and Enrichment Programme

Teachers had a fun Motivational and Personality Traits session by Mr. Yap Yee Aun from HELP University on 13-06-2012. Preferences for particular subject matters marked as indicators to personality traits. Various groups presented their hilarious thoughts and plans of an ideal work environment, much to the delight of other groups. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

‘Kilometrico’ Safety Talk

On 15-06-2012, sales representatives from ‘Kilometrico’ stationery, gave a talk on the use of the ballpoint pen as a tool for physical abuse amongst students. In a brief safety awareness demonstration during the assembly, students were enlightened on safety measures while being in school. They were later given free’ Kilometrico’ pens in exchange for used –up ballpoint pens of any brand. Students queued up to grab these pens. As a token of appreciation, the principal gave away a gift fruit basket to them.

Poetry Recitation and Story Telling Competition

The English Language Panel organized this competition on 22-06-2012 for the Forms Remove, One and Two students with the objective of giving them the opportunity to discover their oratory and public speaking skills whilst appreciating the richness and beauty of the English Language through poetry. Students enjoyed this competition while teachers marveled at their hidden talents. The principal gave away prizes to winners from various categories.

Exhibition of Art & Craft and Exhibits from Natural Resources

The above exhibition aimed at unveiling students creativity was held on 28-06-2012 at the Methodist Centre. The event was jointly organized by the Art and Craft and Geography panels. Students’ creativity and art & craft exhibits as well as photography products and pictures of the wonders of nature were exhibited. The Principal Mr.Thong Kok Chaw officiated this event. ACSians are indeed multi talented.

Parents’ Open Day

On 30-06-2012, ACS held its Open Day for parents and class teachers to sit down together and discuss their children’s academic progress. Many parents turned up with much anxiety and anticipation. Amicable discussions were held on issues pertaining to students’ academic, co-curricular and other school issues. The day ended well with satisfied parents looking calm and happy.

Julai 2012

Selain aktiviti di atas, majlis pesaraan pengawas perpustakaan sesi 2011/2012 juga telah diadakan, di samping anugerah pengawas perpustakaan cemerlang dan pengawas yang berkomitmen. Pada tahun ini, pengawas perpustakaan cemerlang disandang oleh Tan Jia Dar (Tingkatan 5 Setia), dan seramai empat orang pengawas berkomitmen telah dipilih iaitu Lim Pei Li (Tg. 5 Setia), Lim Yong Xuan (Tg. 5 Bestari), Chan Yuen Lin (Tg. 5 Setia), dan Guan Teck Loong (Tg. 5 Setia). penyampaian penghargaan, sijil, dan cenderahati ini telah disampaikan oleh Tuan Pengetua En. Thong Kok Chaw pada 16.7.2012 yang lalu.

Di sini, pihak PSS mengambil kesempatan mengucapkan jutaan terima kasih kepada semua pengawas perpustakaan dan ahli jawatankuasa kecil setiap bahagian seperti NILAM, BBM, Makmal ICT, RACS, dan bahagian-bahagian yang lain atas khidmat dan bantuan mereka dalam mengendalikan pengurusan dan perkhidmatan PSS.

Bersaranya mereka telah diganti dengan pengawas perpustakaan dan ahli jawatankuasa yang baru sesi 2012/2013 dalam kalangan murid tingkatan empat. Majlis penyampaian lencana perpustakaan dan pelantikan ini telah diadakan pada 31.7.2012 dan lencana tersebut telah disampaikan oleh Pn. Chuan Teik Mei, Pengerusi Pusat Sumber Sekolah.

Aktiviti program NILAM juga mendapat perhatian dari pihak sekolah dan pelbagai perancangan telah, sedang, dan akan dilaksanakan. Perubahan demi perubahan dilakukan seperti menetapkan satu waktu pengajaran bahasa Melayu/bahasa Inggeris diperuntukan bagi aktiviti membaca dan membuat sinopsis di perpustakaan. Dengan cara ini diharapkan murid-murid dapat menambah bahan bacaan mereka. Selain itu, pengumpulan data tahunan dan data terkumpul juga diberikan pengiktirafan dan dicatatkan di dalam kad/sijil prestasi murid serta dalam sijil berhenti sekolah. Pengiktirafan penerima-penerima anugerah gred Jauhari bagi murid tingkatan lima diberi dalam bentuk sijil, plak, voucer KFC, dan cenderahati. Galakan seperti ini menjadi pendorong kepada murid terus membaca kerana mencari ilmu itu tiada penghujungnya, ‘pembelajaran sepanjang hayat’.

Kuiz Undang-undang Kemanusiaan Antarabangsa Peringkat Negeri

Kuiz Undang-undang Kemanusiaan Antarabangsa Peringkat Daerah telah diadakan di Akademi Latihan BSMM pada 7 Julai 2012. Pertandingan ini telah disertai oleh Tan Zuanne, Chin Wen Shen, Yap Zuoo Chi dan Tristan Chang. Dalam pertandingan ini, pasukan sekolah telah mendapat Johan dan Peserta Terbaik telah dimenangi oleh Tan Zuanne.

Pertandingan Pertolongan Cemas Peringkat Negeri

Pertandingan Pertolongan Cemas Peringkat Negeri telah diadakan di SMK KGV pada 15 Julai 2012. Lee Shu Qi, Jeremy Khoo, Lim Jia Tong dan Lim Jia Qian telah menyertai pertandingan ini dan pasukan ini diketuai oleh Lee Shu QI. Pertandingan ini diadakan dalam beberapa kategori. Pasukan sekolah telah mendapat Tempat Ketiga Keseluruhan. Pasukan sekolah telah memenangi Tempat Ketiga dalam Kategori Kuiz Bee dan dalam Kategori Team Test.

Majlis Unggun Api Pengakap Ke-88

Pada 7 Julai 2012, Majlis Unggun Api Kumpulan Pengakap 05 Seremban Timur telah diadakan. Sebanyak 11 buah pasukan pengakap sekolah –sekolah dalam daerah ini dan semua persatuan di ACS dijemput menghadiri majlis tersebut. Tema majlis unggun api tersebut adalah “05OME ADVENTURES”. Tujuan majlis tersebut diadakan adalah untuk menjalin hubungan antara kumpulan, meningkatkan semangat pengakap dan meningkatkan mutu kokurikulum sekolah serta mengekalkan tradisi pengakap. Berbagai persembahan telah dipersembahkan oleh para pelajar SMK Methodist (ACS). Majlis tersebut bermula pada jam 7 petang dan tamat dengan jayanya pada pukul 10 malam.

“Senamrobik 1Murid 1Sukan 1Malaysia” 2012 telahpun dijalankan dengan serentak di seluruh Malaysia dengan jayanya pada 10 Julai 2012. Senamrobik serentak 1Murid 1Sukan 1 Malaysia dijalankan sebagai kesinambungan kepada pelaksanaaan dasar 1Murid 1Sukan.

Senamrobik serentak ini telah berjaya mencatat sejarah dalam “ Malaysia Book of Records (MBR)” sebagai “Largest Simultaneous Participation of School Students in An Aerobic Session.”

Sesi ini disertai oleh sekurang-kurangnya 4.5 juta murid, guru dan warga KPM bertujuan:

• Meningkatkan kecergasan dari tahapkesediaan murid dan guru untuk bersukan.

• Melibatkan penyertaan semua murid.

• Mengamalkan dan mempraktikkan gaya hidup sihat dan cergas.

• Mengamalkan aktiviti kecergasan fizikal dengan cara yang betul.

• Meningkatkan kesepakatan dan menyemarakkan semangat”esprit de corp”

Annual School Sports

The Annual School Sports was held on 05.07.2012 at Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Paroi, Seremban. The event culminated after months of House practice held at SRJK (C) San Min, Seremban. The Principal officiated the ceremony amid joy and fun amongst both students and teachers. The Champion House this year was Bailey. Kudos to all Bailey House members.

Form One English Diagnostic Test

This test was held simultaneously for all Form One students on 10.07.2012 for the purpose of grouping them according to their performance. The new School Based Assessment for all Form One students as of this year necessitates class settings based on students’ performance.

University of New South Wales English Test

The University of New South Wales English Test was held at the School Library on 10.07.2012. A total of 54 candidates ranging from Form one to Form Five sat for this test. It is hoped that such an exposure to high profile English Test will equip students with the confidence and knowledge to soar to great heights.

English Language Cambridge Placement Test

ESL teachers sat for this test as required by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. In ACS, ESL teachers took the test on-line on 12 and 13 July 2012. The objective of this test was to gauge the English Language competency of ESL teachers in the Teaching and Learning of the English Language.

Senior Librarians Step down

On 16-07-2012, the Form 5 school librarians officially stepped down from their library duties. In a brief ceremony during the school assembly, they were awarded certificates by our Principal Mr.Thong Kok Chaw. Outstanding and committed librarians were given special awards.

“Tazkirah” for Female Muslim Students

On 20-07-2012, female Muslim students from Form 1-5 were given a talk on issues pertaining to health, morality, relationship and social etiquette from the Islamic viewpoint. It was indeed beneficial to all who attended.

Fire Drill

The 2nd Fire Drill was held on 24-07-2012. Records showed a marked improvement in the time taken for all students to gather at the Basketball Court. Students were given a brief demonstration on the use of the fire extinguisher by Mr.Redzuan bin A.Aziz. The afternoon session had a similar demonstration under the supervision of Mr.Khairul Amri.

Appointment of Librarians for 2012/2013 Session.

Appointment of a new committee of librarians for the academic year 2012/2013 was held in a brief ceremony during the school assembly on 30-07-2012. The Principal presented these new librarians with a special badge to indicate their new roles.

Installation of Head Prefect and Assistants

The Head Prefect and Assistant Head Prefects for 2012/2013 were installed in a short ceremony during the school assembly on 2 July 2012 with the simultaneous ‘retirement’ of the Form 5 Prefects. Bee Swen Ning took the helm as Head Prefect assisted by Tan Zuanne and Yap Zuoo Chi as Assistant 1 and 2 respectively. Pulsating ACS congratulates them and expresses its gratitude and best wishes to the outgoing Form 5 prefects.

Pertandingan Kawad Kaki Peringkat Negeri telah diadakan di SMK KGV pada 8 Julai 2012. Pertandingan ini telah disertai oleh Annie Lau, Waynie Lau, Winnie Hooi, Koh Siew Hua, Lee Chin Thing dan Yong Chin Yee. Johan telah dimenangi oleh pasukan sekolah dan Komander Terbaik dimenangi oleh Annie Lau.

ACSians congratulate Miss Nur Athirah bt Haji Mohd Yasim on the occasion of her marriage to long time sweet heart, Mr. Syed Mohd Safwan bin Sayed Md. Saiuddin on 25-08-2012 in Kuantan, Pahang. Korean Exchange BSMM Students

ACS played host to 3 Korean BSMM students who spent 3 days here. Among other activities, they had a taste of the Malaysian classroom atmosphere when they spent a day in class following the lessons throughout the morning session. They were later placed in other venues as planned by the BSMM organizers. The Malaysian hot & spicy cuisine as well as our multi cultural lifestyle was indeed a new experience for them. We wish them success.

Cash aid for needy students

Financially needy students were given cash aid by Miss Rebecca Backus, President of the ACS Old Students’ Association. It is hoped that such financial aid will motivate the recipients to work harder while easing their financial burden as well.

Pertandingan Bercerita dan Syarahan

Panitia Bahasa Melayu telah menganjurkan Pertandingan Bercerita dan Syarahan dengan jayanya pada 11-09-2012. Pertandingan ini terbuka untuk murid Tingkatan Peralihan, Satu & Dua yang dibahagikan kepada dua kategori iaitu Kumpulan Sederhana dan Kumpulan Harapan. Pertandingan Syarahan pula adalah untuk murid Tingkatan Dua yang juga dibahagikan kepada tiga kategori iaitu Kumpulan Baik, Kumpulan Sederhana dan Kumpulan Harapan. Tuan Pengetua Cemerlang telah menyampaikan hadiah kepada semua pemenang. Diharap pertandingan sedemikian akan diteruskan pada tahun-tahun akan datang

 Malaysia Day Celebration

The month long Independence Day and Malaysia Day Celebration at the school level which was launched on 6 August 2012 was officially declared close by our Principal Mr. Thong Kok Chaw during a special assembly on 14 September 2012. The event, which was jointly celebrated with Mr. Chen Tee Shaw’s retirement was vibrant and fun. Students turned up in colourful traditional costumes which heightened the event. The singing of patriotic songs and waving of little flags culminated the celebration. Classes resumed as normal thereafter.

 Retired

ACSians bade farewell and best wishes to Mr. Chen Tee Shaw who retired on 14 September 2012. Mr. Chen served as a Physical Education teacher as well as an English Language teacher throughout his teaching career which spanned from 1980. A former student of ACS from 1969-74, he served as a teacher in ACS since 1993. Students who were taught by him remember him as a brilliant, witty, easy going and lovable teacher. His retirement coincided with the school level Malaysia Day celebration. We will miss him dearly.

Annual Co-Curricular and Sports Awards Ceremony

The School Annual Co-Curricular and Sports Awards Ceremony was held on Tuesday, 25-09-2012 at 9.00 am. Students who had excelled in co-curricular activities as well as in sports events throughout 2012 were given due recognition for their efforts in striving for excellence. The highlight of the day was the nomination for the Best Male and Female recipient of the Co-Curricular Award. Deswin Siow Jian Wei of the BSMM unit and Cheah Yee Hong of the Scouts unit were joint winners of the Best Male Category whilst Pang Yee Ling and Bee Swen Ning, both of the BSMM unit were winners of the Best Female Category. Our Principal together with the PIBG Chairman, Mr. Leow Kwek Onn gave away the awards. All winners were feted to a KFC treat at the school canteen thereafter.

Negeri Sembilan Theatre, Culture and Arts Festival

In conjunction with the Negeri Sembilan Theatre, Culture and Arts Festival, a series of preliminary competitions leading to the final night were held :-

- The State Level Theatre Competition among secondary schools which was held on 28 – 06 – 2012 at SMK Dato Abdul Samad, Kuala Pilah. Our participant Mohd Hanif bin Muslim won the Best Performer Award for his performance in theatre.

- On 22-09-2012, the ACS Cultural Club emerged as runners-up for their performance of a traditional Negeri Sembilan dance and song in the “Creative Randai” category. In the “Bongai” category, we seized the 3rd placing for our performance of a Negeri Sembilan folk song while in the traditional music “Tumbuk Kalang”category, we had the 3rd placing. The event was held at SMK Puteri, Seremban.

- The grand finale of the Negeri Sembilan Theatre, Culture and Arts Festival was held at the Komplex Taman Budaya Negeri Sembilan , Seremban on 6 October 2012. Our school was awarded the 3rd placing in the Negeri Sembilan Folklore Story Telling “Teromba” Competition represented by Hanif bin Muslim . ACS also won the Best Award for Theatre entitled “Huga Huga Zaman Purba”

Form Five Prefects’ Farewell Function 2012

This function kicked off with lunch served at the Methodist Centre. Thereafter, the outgoing senior prefects were ushered to the Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum where the ceremony began with the principal’s speech. He thanked these seniors for a job well done and wished them success in their future endeavours. Thereafter, the former Head Prefect, Master Chee Wai Jim gave his final speech followed by performances by the present senior prefects. The event ended with a tinge of nostalgia and joy.

Ekspedisi ke Gunung Angsi

Pada 15 Disember 2012, pasukan pengakap sekolah telah mengadakan ekspedisi ke Gunung Angsi di Kuala Pilah. Kumpulan ini telah dipimpin oleh seorang penolong pemimpin. Pasukan ini terdiri daripada 8 orang pengakap dan mengambil masa selama 5 jam untuk ke puncak gunung tersebut. Mereka telah Berjaya ke puncak setelah menghadapi beberapa cabaran dari segi fizikal dan mental.

Co-Curriculum Award Ceremony

The schoolannual Co-Curriculum Award Ceremony was held on Thursday, 11 November, 2010.Our VIP guest of honour, YB Raja Datin Seri Salbiah binti Tengku Nujumudin,wife of the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan graced the occasion.In her keyaddress, YB Raja Datin Seri expressed pleasant surprise and pleasure at thepresentation of a video recording of her student days in ACS.

She thanked the principal and the school administration for the greatlengths at which the meticulous video documentation of her was done. Amongother things, she advised students to excel both in academic and co-curricularactivities. She then awarded certificates and cash prizes to students forco-curricular excellence.    

She also contributed her personal cash rewardsto students from all categories for bringing glorious victories for ACS atdistrict, state, national and international level competitions. As an expression of gratitude, our principalpresented her with a basket of fruits and a portrait of her drawn by one of ourteachers.

The event ended with a sumptuous buffet lunch cooked specially for YB Raja Datin Seri by amember of our staff, Madam Siti Zabedah binti Abdul Manaf.

Rising Star    

Tristan Chang Juin Han represented Malaysia in the MartialArts Competition, held in Shanghai, China on 18 November 2010. The event wasorganized by the World Chin Woo Martial Arts and Culture Assembly. He won aSilver Medal in the ‘Hand Martial’category and a Gold Medal in the ‘LegMartial’ category. In recognition to his contributions towards Wushusports, the Negeri Sembilan State Government awarded him a Certificate ofAppreciation and RM 500 from the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan. ACSians areproud of him.

Registration of New Form One Students  

The registrationof new Form One and Remove class students was carried out  on 31 December 2010.The Principal addressed these new comers together  with their parents on issuesof school rules and disciplinary matters. It is hoped that these young liveslive up to the school’s aspirations and be the new torch bearers of ACS.

Orientation Programme

The Form One andForm Four students had their orientation program on 5 - 6 January 2011. Amongother things, they were briefed on the school’s infrastructure, school rules,academic and co-curricular matters. The Form Four students were introduced tonew Science and Arts stream subjects. They were advised to make careful decisionsin matters pertaining to the choice of subjects available to them for the SPMnext year.

Gotong Royong                                            

A massive ‘gotong royong’ was  carried out on 7 January 2011after the long December school holidays. Students were busy cleaning up theirrespective classrooms and corridors from 7.30am.-9.00am. It was fun time forthem as well.

Class Monitor’s Leadership Course

A leadershipcourse for class monitors from the morning session was conducted by our schoolcounselors  on 17 January 2011 at theschool library. Participants were briefed on leadership qualities andresponsibilities entrusted to them. It is hoped that these young leaders willcarry out their duties without fear or favour.

Calligraphy Competition

In conjunction with the Chinese New Year, ACS organized a calligraphy competition forall students and teachers on 27 January 2011. It was indeed an exciting eventand the response was overwhelming. Participants took part in writing Chinesecharacters as well as Tamil and Jawi characters. Our Principal gave away prizesto the winners.

Chinese New Year Celebration Night

The Chinese Language Society of ACS held a Chinese New Yearcelebration night on 12 February 2011. Invitation was extended to all membersof the ACS community. The event kicked off at 7.30 p.m. with culturalpresentations, songs and dances. Our Principal Mr. Thong Kok Chaw graced theoccasion. Also present were members of the administrative and academic staff. Itwas indeed a fun-filled night

Fire Drill

The 1stfire drill for this year was held on 18 February 2011. Ademonstration on how to use the fire extinguisher and to put out a fire wasgiven by Mr. Redzuan bin A. Aziz. Students were commended on their swift andorderly mobility to the basketball court and for complying with the routesdesignated for them by the school. Students were also briefed on safety measures,emergency exits and escape routes in the event of a fire.

Freak Storm

A freak storm wreaked havoc in ACS on 28 February 2011 after a torrential down pour late thatevening. The main stairway, walkways and basketball court were littered withblown off roof tiles, branches, toppled potted plants and all kinds of otherdebris. The morning of the aftermath shocked all ACSians. A massive cleanup andrepair works was carried out immediately. We thank our Principal Mr. Thong KokChaw for his effective and immediate response in addressing the wreckage caused.

PIBG Annual General Meeting

The ACS Parents Teachers’ Association (PIBG) held its 38th Annual GeneralMeeting on 5 March 2011. Our Guest of Honour, Miss Rebecca Beckus graced the occasion. Among other things, shegave away certificate of excellence and cash prize to top scorers of the PMR2010.Lunch was served at 12.30 pm. Thereafter the PIBG meeting was held. The meeting was adjourned at 2.00pm

Latihan Rumah Sukan

Latihan rumah sukan telah bermula mulai 22/03/2011hingga 28/04/2011 bertempat di Padang SMK St. Paul Seremban. Tarikh KejohananOlahraga Tahunan ialah 28/06/2011 bertempat di Stadium TAR, Paroi. Rumah Baileydan Rumah Jones akan berlatih pada hari Selasa manakala Bowmar dan Summers pulapada hari Khamis jam 8.30-9.45 pagi (Sidang Petang) dan 2.30-3.45petang (Sidang Pagi). Kehadiran semua pelajar diwajibkan dengan memakai pakaiansukan. Disiplin sekolah terkawal.

Ceramah Anti Dadah

Unit Bimbingan dan Kaunseling Sekolah telah menganjurkan ceramah antidadah pada 28/03/2011 bertempat di tapak perhimpunan. En. Basharuddin Bin Said telah memberi ceramah ini. Melalui ceramah ini, murid telah mendapat kesedarantentang bahayanya dadah.

Inter School Christian Fellowship                          

A combined Christian Fellowship for Seremban Schools was held on 2 April 2011 at the Methodist Youth Centre. The theme ‘Father Heart of God’ was indeed befitting the event. The guest speaker from Scripture Unionaddressed the participants. The principle Mr. Thong Kok Chaw, Senior Assistant1 and Senior Assistant of Co-curricular Affairs graced the occasion. We thankMiss Ng Mui Ching for organizing the event.

Pelantikan PRS

Majlis pelantikan Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya telah diadakan pada 04/04/2011 di tapak perhimpunan. Falsafah PRS ialah “membantu diri untuk membantu orang lain”. Seramai 10 orang murid telah dilantik.

Carnival Bahasa Tamil

ACS hosted theSeremban District Zone 2 Tamil Language Carnival on 2 April 2011. An array of Tamil Literary and Language activities were carried out and attractive prizes were awarded to winners.

Discipline Week      

The Discipline Week was launched by our Principal on11 April 2011. Talks were given by invited personnels on antinarcotics and the penalty of drug abuse. An exhibition on the history of thepolice force was held at the Methodist Centre. ACS student motorcyclists werecaught off guard when traffic police made their rounds on the school groundsfor a surprise spot-check. It is hoped that ACSians adhere to the law always

The glorious transformation of the Methodist Court to the Pusat Kegiatan Ko-Kurikulum.

ACSians owe ourgratitude to the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan for his noble role in escalating this project and officiating its opening on 10 May 2011. Thank you Dato’ Seri.

Into the annals of ACS history. . . .

An air of excitement and anticipation filled the dawn of Tuesday, 10 May 2011 for the ACS community….. the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan was coming to our school for the ‘Official Opening  and Handing Over Ceremony’ of the Pusat Kegiatan KoKurikulum.

Our principal, together with the many VVIP gave the MB a rousing welcome to the accompaniment of kompang beats steeped in ceremony and protocol. Led by bunga mangga and bunga paha bearers,the MB and his entourage made their way to the PKK while acknowledging our academic and non-academic staff who had lined along the route to honour him.

The ceremony geared towards a more serious tone when the principal-par excellence, Mr. Thong Kok Chaw addressed the audience. Among other things, he stressed on the school’s vision and mission whilst highlighting our students academic and co-curricular achievements at district, state, national and international levels. He also highlighted the various infrastructure and facilities constantly upgraded andprovided in ACS to ensure holistic and quality education for our students. Hisvision for a Multimedia Room and a Projector Room whilst upgrading the existing classrooms is a project he hopes to undertake and accomplish in the near future.

The Director of Education, Tuan Abdul Halim bin Abdul Razak then addressed the audience. In his speech, he highlighted academic andco-curricular achievements in Negeri Sembilan schools and encouraged students to actively participate in both these fields for a holistic education. He also motivated parents to be pro-active in their children’s education to ensuresuccess.

The most awaited moment arrived and to the eager anticipation of the audience, the MB spoke. He expressed sheer joy at the huge success of the school in both academic and co-curricular activities and went onto joke that ACS was not known for high profile victories during his school days! Among other things, he highlighted the multi faceted role played by schools today that have taken  a  new dimension with constant transformation and equipping students to assimilate into the globally challenging world. The audience especially students were all ears to the MB’s inspiring speech. He ended his speech by challenging students to excel in their entireschool endeavor and make their school life a memorable one.

The MB then presented a mock cheque of RM10,000 to our principal who in turn presented  him with an authentic batik painting created by one of our teachers, Madam Azizah binti Ahmad.

The MB upon receiving this batik painting requested for Madam Azizah to come up to the stage where he personally thanked her for her painstaking masterpiece.

Then the MB awarded top SPM and PMR scorers with acertificate and cash prize individually. He also gave his personal cash gifts to all these elated recipients who went up stage together with a parent.

Deafeninga applause from the audience continued as the MB and his entourage was then ushered out of the PKK by the principal to the Methodist Centre where he signed the ‘Guests Book’. The MB then toured the exhibition centre whichshowcased students’ art and craft, products made by the school Young Entrepreneurs,exhibits showing our school Scouts’ craftsmanship skills and exhibits from theschool Red Crescent Society.

The final leg ofthe MB’s historic visit was to the school hall where guests, visitors and a host of  VVIP and ACS staff awaited patiently for the MB to a sumptuous banquet lunch.

Teachers Day Celebration

The school level Teachers Day Celebration which coincided with the National Level Celebration son 16 May 2011 was celebrated on a modest scale. In his key address in aspecial assembly held at the Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum, the principal highlighted the significant role and sacrificesof teachers in moulding young lives.

In keeping withthe tradition, teachers reaffirm their oath and sang the Guru Malaysia song.

The school choir then gave a presentation after which an aerobic session was conducted for interested teachers. The response from teachers was good amid the cheers from student spectators. The celebration culminated with a modest meal, courtesy of  the principal and the canteen operators.

Pelancaran Hari Koperasi 2011

Perayaan hari koperasi sekolah telah mula disambutsejak tahun 1995. Bagi tahun 2011 Hari Koperasi Sekolah telah disambut denganbaik mulai 27 Jun hingga 30 Jun 2011. Objektif HKS mempromosikan kepada wargaACS tentang kewujudan koperasi sekolah dan nilai-nilai keusahawanan harusdipupuk dalam kalangan pelajar. Sepanjang minggu HKS telah adakan beberapaaktiviti seperti Pendidikan Kuiz , aktiviti Sosial Persatuan Pengguna dan Pertandingan Projek Keusahawananbertempat di Methodist Center.

Program Konvensyen Mini

Kelab Keusahawanan Koperasi Peringkat Sekolah 2011 telah mengadakan sambutan hari koperasi peringkat sekolah bertarikh 30 Jun 2011, masa 2.30 petang bertempat diperpustakaan.Tema tahun ini  ialah “1Untuk Semua, Semua Untuk 1”. Objektif konvensyen mini ini diadakan untuk memupuk nilai-nilai keusahawanan seperti kreatif, inovatif,bijak mengambil peluang dan berani menanggung risiko dalam kalangan pelajar.

Program Semarak Teater Sekolah Menengah 2011

Program ini telah diadakan di Glory Beach Resort, Port Dickson pada 24 Jun 2011. Peserta SMK Methodist ACSShazrin bin Zainurin dari 3 Bestari telah menerima Anugerah Perak peringkatKebangsaan.

1 Malaysia Run

On 2 July 2011, the 1 MalaysiaRun was held simultaneously for all schools in Malaysia. This event also made itsway into the Guiness Book of Malaysia Records for the largest number of runnersat a single time. In ACS, the event was flagged off at 7.20 am by our PrincipalMr.Thong Kok Chaw. Students and teachers participated and ran along thedesignated route. Security measures were stringent with patrol police on bikes.Students had games sessions after the 1Malaysia Run. Everyone enjoyedthemselves.

Art & Craft and Exhibits from Natural Resources

The Art & Craft and NaturalResources Exhibition was held on 7 July 2011 at the Methodist Center.The event was jointly organised by the Art & Craft and Geography panels.Students’ creativity and art & craft products as well as photographs &pictures of the wonders of the world were exhibited. The principal Mr.Thong KokChaw officiated the occasion.  Acsians are indeed multi talented.

University of New South Wales English Test

The UNSW English Test was held on12 July 2011 at the ACS School Library. A total of 55 candidates, including anexternal candidate from SMK Chan Wa, Seremban, sat for this test. We are proud that 5 of our candidates scored the Distinction level pass while 12 othersscored Credit level pass. This indeed is a praise worthy feat which put these candidates as well as ACS on a world class platform. Well done.

Farewell lunch for Senoir Prefects

The Form 5 prefects of ACS werefeted to a sumptuous lunch on 16 July 2011 at the Royal Bintang Hotel,Seremban. It marked the grand finale to a role well played by them all. Tohonour them were our Principal par Excellence, Mr Thong Kok Chaw, SeniorAssstant 1, Madam Chuan Teik Mei, Senior Assitant of Students & Affairs,Madam Ooi Sow Lay, Senior Assitant of Co-Curicular Affairs , Madam SurinderKaur, the Afternoon Senior Assistant, Mr Chang Van Leong, the prefect mistresses,counsellors and discipline teachers.

Annual Sports

The school annual sports was heldon 19 July 2011 at the Stadium Paroi, Seremban. Students unwound from theroutine classroom atmosphere and set free to enjoy themselves by participatingin various events. Trophies  and medalswere given away to winners by our principal. Well done to all students and teachers for the months of preparation.

Freak Flood at PKK

On 1 August 2011, a freak floodwreaked havoc at the PusatKegiatan Kokurikulum after a torrential downpour. The floor wasinundated with water from the drainage surrounding the PKK. The floods calledfor immediate repairs in the drainage system and the principal took effectivemeasures to rectify the problem

Cash incentive to Excellent Students

On 1 August 2011, themorning and afternoon session first student from all classes were awardedRM50.00 each as an incentive by Miss Rebecca Backus, President of the ACS OldStudents Association. The incentive was given in a special meeting with MissBackus. Pulsating ACS extends its gratitude to ACSOSA for its kindcontribution. It is hoped that such incentives will motivate our students towork even harder.

Malaysia Day Celebration

The month long Independence Dayand Malaysia Day  celebration which was launched on 1 August 2011 was officially declared close by our principal- par excellence, Mr.Thong Kok Chaw during the school assembly on 12 September 2011.The event culminated with the singing of patrotic songs and waving of little flags. Students turned up in colourful cultural costumes which added live tothe event. Classes resumed as normal thereafter.

Pesta Tang Lung

Persatuan Bahasa CinaSMK Methodist (ACS) telah menganjurkan ‘Pesta Tang Lung’ yang telah dirasmikan oleh GPK 1 Puan Chuan Teik Mei pada 8 September 2011 bertempat di Gelanggang Bola Keranjang. Pertama kalinya band sekolah ACS telah memberi persembahan yang sangat menarik pada malam itu. Kehadiran ahli-ahli PBC sungguh menggalakan. Bekas ahli PBC juga turut hadir bagi memeriahkan lagi majlis tersebut. Pada malam itu, para pelajar telah menunjukkan kebolehan merekadengan tarian-tarian, pertunjukkan magik, dan juga sketch yang amat menarik.PBC juga menjemput beberapa buah sekolah sebagai jemputan khas. AJK kelab dan persatuan ACS juga turut hadir pada malam itu. Tahniah PBC!! Teruskan usaha anda.

Kolam Competition

The Tamil Language Society of ACS organised the Kolam competition on 22 September 2011at the PKK. Response from participants was overwhelming. Students as well asteachers produced brilliant and creative works of art using coloured ricegrains. Prizes were given to winners from various categories. Pulsating ACS congratulates the advisor of the society, MadamSusheela Govindarajoo  and her committeefor a job well done.

Kem Tahunan Pengawas

Kem tahunan pengawas telah diadakan di INTI International University College, Nilai pada 18 dan 19 november 2011.Semua pengawas telah menghadiri kem ini.Tujuan kem ini adalah untuk menanam sifat kepimpinan dan disiplin dalam setiap individu.Kem ini telah berlangsung selama 2 hari dan 1 malam.

Laporan Jamboree Pengakap Antarabangsa yang ke-24 di Terengganu

Dari 18hb November 2011 hingga 25hb November 2011 seramai 12 ahli pengakap SMK Methodist (ACS) telah menyertai Jamboree Antarabangsa di Terengganu.Perkhemahan ini dibuka kepada semua pengakap Malaysia dan Negara lain.Ahli pengakap telah memperolehi banyak ilmu daripada aktiviti kem ini.Ahli pengakap haruslah menyertai perkhemahan-perkhemahan sebegini untuk menambahkan ilmu pengakap.

Laporan Jota dan Joti Negeri Sembilan Tahun 2011

Pada tarikh 13 November 2011, sekolah SMK Methodist (ACS) telah hantar 13 ahli pengakap ke JOTA DAN JOTI perkhemahan di Bukit Putus, Negeri Sembilan .Aktiviti ini bertujuan untuk memberi peluang kepada peserta untuk berinteraksi di peringkat antarabangsa melalui Radio Amaetur atau “Hem Radio” dan mengadakan aktiviti pengakap .Pengguna –pengguna radio Amaetur telah berhubung dengan rakan –rakan mereka diseluruh dunia melalui beberapa set frekuensi radio yang telah ditetapkan.

Majlis Restu SPM

Majlis ini diadakan pada 10 Nov 2011 di tapak bola keranjang . Majlis itu bermula pada pukul 7.30 pagi . Tuan Pengetua telah memberi ucapan khas yang menyuntik semangat pelajar yang bakal menduduki peperiksaan . majlis tersebut diakhiri dengan restu daripada semua guru ACS.

Kem Tahunan BSMM

Kem tahunan BSMM telah diadakan di SMK Methodist (ACS) Seremban, pada 25 dan 26 November 2011. Semua ahli BSMM yang terdiri daripada ahli Tingkatan 1 hingga Tingkatan 5 telah menyertai kem ini. Tujuan kem ini diadakan adalah untuk menanam sifat kepimpinan dalam diri setiap ahli dan mengeratkan hubungan sesama ahli BSMM. Pelbagai aktiviti yang menarik diadakan untuk menguji kemahiran dan kerjasama setiap ahli dalam kumpulan masing-masing. Peserta lelaki dan perempuan terbaik serta kumpulan terbaik juga dipilih dan diberi hadiah.

The day to let loose your hair to a fun filled night- the Annual Staff Dinner!!. The event was held on 9.11.2011 at the Allson Kelana Resort, Seremban. Everyone came in their shimmering best. Dinner was served immediately after our principal’s short speech. Thereafter, an array of spectacular presentations from our talented staff followed. The Principal-par Excellence, Mr. Thong Kok Chaw awarded excellent achievement awards and gifts to teachers who had toiled for excellence. The night ended with many pleasantries shortly after 11.30 pm

Registration of new Form 1 and Remove class students took place at the Pusat Kegiatan KoKurikulum on 3.12.2011. The principal addressed them on issues pertaining to school rules and discipline matters. The new students together with their parents were all ears to the principal’s sound advice. It is hoped that these young lives will be nurtured with a holistic education and good values here in ACS.

Frog ialah VLE yang dipilih bagi projek 1BestariNet. Frog mempunyai fungsi sebagai komuniti pembelajaran bagi seluruh warga sekolah.

Persekitaran Pembelajaran Maya Frog, atau lebih dikenali sebagai VLE(Virtual Learning Environment) ialah satu sistem pembelajaran berdasarkan jaringan yang menyerupai pembelajaran dunia sebenar dengan mengintegrasikan konsep pendidikan konvensional dengan kaedah maya. Sebagai contoh, guru-guru dapat memberi tugasan, ujian dan menyemak tugasan secara maya, sementara pelajar dapat menghantar tugasan serta menyemak markah menerusi VLE. Para guru dan pelajar boleh mengakses berita sekolah dan dokumen penting yang telah dikemaskinikan oleh pentadbir sekolah. Menerusi Frog VLE dan sambungan internet 4G, pendidikan boleh dilaksanakan di mana jua, pada bila-bila masa melalui Frog VLE yang berasaskan cloud. Dengan ini, pembelajaran boleh dilaksanakan di mana-mana: di sekolah ataupun di rumah, 24 jam sehari, 7 hari seminggu!

Di bawah projek 1BestariNet ini, sekolah-sekolah akan dilengkapkan dengan penyelesaian bersepadu yang membolehkan pengajaran, pembelajaran, kolaborasi dan pentadbiran dijalankan melalui Frog VLE, yang boleh diakses di sekolah atau di mana juga, dengan adanya sambungan Internet.

Frog adalah ringkas, mudah digunakan dan direka untuk membawa dunia pengajaran ke satu tahap baru. Beri tugasan dan ikuti kerja-kerja dan markah pelajar, hasilkan sumber pengajaran, beri maklum balas kepada pelajar dan gunakan forum untuk menggalakkan pelajar berbincang dan berkongsi pandangan. Rancanglah masa anda dengan lebih baik dengan menggunakan kalendar, yang membolehkan anda melihat, membuat, menyertai atau memasukkan acara.

Maksimumkan masa dan mulalah merancang dengan kalendar, buatlah kerja dan ikuti perkembangan markah pada setiap masa, di mana jua, peribadikan laman utama anda, muat naik dan simpan fail-fail di dalam Frog, dan berkomunikasi atau kongsikanlah idea-idea anda dengan rakan sekelas atau guru melalui forum.

Ikuti perkembangan acara sekolah, laporan PIBG dan notis sekolah dengan menggunakan kalendar dan papan notis sekolah, temui semua butiran perhubungan yang anda perlukan di halaman Contact School dan muat turun borang kebenaran dan dokumen-dokumen penting lain mengikut keselesaan anda.

Sehubungan dengan itu, pihak sekolah telah mengadakan beberapa bengkel FROG VLE kepada guru-guru di sekolah ini demi meningkatkan taraf pelajaran maya. Fasilitator-fasilitator dalam kalangan guru sekolah telah dilantik untuk mengendali bengkel tersebut. Mereka ialah En. Lim Loon Chang, En. Nor Aizam bin Ab. Rahman, Pn. Nur Adila binti Tugi, dan Pn. Azyyati binti Sariani yang dibantu oleh ahli jawatankuasa murid.

PROGRAM PEMBUDAYAAN KEUSAHAWANAN KOPERASI SEKOLAH (PPKKS) PERINGKAT KEBANGSAAN

Program ini diadakan pada 27 Oktober hingga 29 Oktober 2013 di Hotel Sri Pacific, Kuala Lumpur. Seramai 4 orang pelajar iaitu Mohd Hanif Bin Muslim, Melissa Bt Muhammad Kelvin Razaleigh, Bee Swen Ywen dan Intan Nur Atiqah Bt Yahya dan guru pengiring ialah Pn Rahimahyati Binti Nordin dan Pn Song Kuen Fah. Pelajar kita telah berjaya memenangi Anugerah Khas Juri dan hadiah wang tunai RM2,000, Penyertaan RM1,000 Trofi Dan Sijil.

Nilam Certificate

On 28-10-2013, students who had fulfilled the criteria for certificate award in the Nilam Reading Programme were given a certificate each for achieving the reading target. It is hoped the ACS students will continue to inculcate good reading habits for lifelong learning and knowledge.

Annual Dinner

The ACS Annual Dinner was held at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 29-10-2013. Members of the ACS academic and non-academic staffturned up in full force to attend the event in two charted buses. A good spread of scrumptious food kept everyone spoilt for choice. It was a day to let loose and enjoy. Surprise door gifts were given to all who attended the event.

Integrity Course

Civil servants from all sectors of the civil service had to attend the Integrity Course which was held throughout the year. For members of the teaching profession, this course began from 24-10-2013 and stretched till the end of the academic year. Each batch was reinforced to uphold integrity throughout their service as well as an everyday lifestyle.

JAMBOREE JOHOR ANTARABANGSA PENGAKAP

Pada 17 November 2013 yang lalu, Pengakap SMK Methodist ACS telah menyertai Jamboree Antarabangsa di Johor. Jamboree tersebut berlangsung dari 17 Nov 2013 hingga 22 Nov 2013.Seramai 23 orang ahli Pengakap telah menyertai Jamboree tersbut.Pelbagai aktiviti telah diadakan di Jamboreetersebut seperti Kayak, ‘Wall Climbing’, ‘Aerial Runway’ dan pelbagai aktivit lagi. Jamboree tersbut bagaikan satu pertandingan dimana setiap peserta dikehendaki menyertai seberapa banyak aktiviti yang boleh untuk memenangi pingat emas, perak atau gangsa. Ahli Pengakap sekolah kita telah berusaha dengan gigh dalam setiap aktiviti.Seramai 3 orang ahli berjaya mendapat pingat emas serta sijil penyertaan antarabangsa dan 17 orang ahli telah mendapat pingat perak dan 3 orang ahli telah mendapat pingat gangsa. Jamboree tersebut merupakan antara salah satu Jamboree yang paling menyeronokan dalam sejarah Pengakap SMK Methodist ACS.

JANUARI

Hari Promosi diadakan pada 22 Januari 2014 bertujuan mendedahkan faedah-faedah menjadi ahli BSMM kepada murid-murid Tingkatan 1. Demonstrasi CPR, kawad kaki dan cara memasak telah ditunjukkan pada hari promosi tersebut. Piala-piala yang dimenangi oleh BSMM juga dipamerkan.

Synonyms and Antonyms Competition

In conjunction with the English Mathematics and Science Month, the class based Synonyms and Antonyms Competition was held. Students had a fun time giving the synonyms and antonyms from the given set of root words. A winner from each class was presented a cash reward of RM5.00.

State Level Inter-School Christian Fellowship

ACS played host to this year’s State level Inter-School Christian Fellowship with the theme ‘Can You Hear Me’. A total of 5 schools took part in this fellowship. The event began with prayer followed by praise and worship which was deemed excellent. The Pastor of the Wesley Methodist Church Seremban, Rev. Ronald Yap gave an inspiring message. Thereafter lunch was served for all.

Bahasa Melaya In House Training

Form 5 Bahasa Melayu teachers were given an intensive in-house training on ‘Sistem Bahasa’ by Madam Sabariah. With this training, it is hoped that Bahasa Melayu teachers will be well equipped with the correct language system and its appropriate use when teaching this subject.

Cash Donation

ACSians were blessed with cash donation from a group of former students of ACS. The cash was given during the school assembly by their representative Prof. Ng Hoon Kia, a former head prefect of our school. We are indeed grateful and thankful for this humble gesture. It is hoped that more former students who have done well in their careers would continuously support ACS with cash contributions towards the welfare of our needy students.

Prefects Installation

School prefects were officially installed during the school assembly. The installation ceremony was carried out at two levels.

The principal presented these new prefects with a badge and a neck tie each as they took on their new roles. It is our hope that these new prefects will carry out their duty with utmost integrity without fear or favour.

Promotion for New Membership

A healthy and competitive campaign to recruit new members for Co-Curricular units was carried out at the Methodist Centre on the following dates.

Sports House Annual General Meeting

The Sports House Annual General Meeting was held on 09-01-2014. Students gathered at their respective sports house venues to nominate and elect the new House Captain as well as other office bearers for 2014. 

English Language Diagnostic Test

The English Language Diagnostic Test for all Form One students was held on 21-01-2014 with the objective of setting students according to their competency level in the language. Setting of students is beneficial to students as they are able to learn in a non-competitive and non-threatening environment which caters specifically to their learning capacity. Teachers too are able to prepare lessons according to the language acquisition level of the students.

Calligraphy Competition

The Annual Calligraphy Competition was held on 29-01-2014 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration. The event kicked off with a traditional drum presentation followed by a variety of cultural performances by students from all races. Students as well as teachers then took part in the Chinese, Tamil and Jawi calligraphy. Winners were each presented with a modest Angpow from the Principal. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

ACSians bade farewell and best wishes to Mdm Danapakiam who retired on 03-01-2014 and Mdm. Lai Suit Moi who retired on 20-01-2014. A brief assembly to commemorate their service and contributions to the school was held at the PKK. Pulsating ACS express our deepest gratitude to them for their good works.

Massive Spring Cleaning

A massive spring cleaning of the classrooms and school compound was carried out on 27-01-2014 as the new academic began. Students worked vigorously under the supervision of their respective class teachers. It is hoped that a clean environment will make teaching and learning more conducive.

Government Cash Incentive

On 23-01-2014, all students were given cash aid of RM100 from the government as an incentive for their education. The money was channelled to their respective parents who began making a beeline from as early as 12.00pm. A good turn up of parents made it easier for teachers to disseminate the money on the same day. We hope that students use this cash aid in a responsible manner.

LAWATAN KE RUMAH SINAR HARAPAN

Lawatan ke Rumah Sinar Harapan sempena Tahun Baru Cina telah diadakan pada 8 Februari 2014. Unit BSMM SMK Methodist (ACS) diberi peluang untuk membuat persediaan bagi menjayakan majlis tersebut. Makanan dan minuman telah disediakan dan diberikan kepada kanak-kanak rumah tersebut. Program Sambutan Hari Peringatan Sedunia Peringkat Antarabangsa telah diadakan pada 28.2.2014 bertempat di Johor. Aktiviti ini adalah anjuran Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia. Seramai 2 pelajar iaitu Thevamalar Naidu dari 4 Harmoni dan Chan Cheng Yi dari 4 Setia telah mengambil bahagian.

Cabaran Pandu Puteri Renjer, Peringkat daerah, Daerah Seremban 2 telah diadakan padaTarikh 7-8 Mac 2014 bertempat di Bangunan Pandu Puteri, Seremban, anjuran Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Seremban Seramai 4 Pelajar iaitu Ashwini dari Tingkatan 4A, Sarmila Janasegaran dari 4 Gigih, Winnie Teh Wen Li 4 Setia dan Natalie Chah Ling Wah dari 4 Setia telah mengambil bahagian.

 Cabaran Pandu Puteri Renjer Peringkat Negeri telah diadakan pada 4 -6 April 2014. Bertempat di Bangunan Pandu Puteri, Seremban di bawah anjuran Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sembilan. 2 Pelajar iaitu Ashwini dari Tingkatan 4A, Sarmila Janasegaran dari 4 Gigih telah mengambil bahagian.

Perkhemahan Pandu Puteri Remaja/Renjer Daerah Seremban telah diadakan pada tarikh 24 – 27 April 2014 bertempat di SMK Mambau, anjuran Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Seremban. Seramai 3 Pelajar iaitu Thevamalar Naidu 4 Harmoni, Suvarna 1Arif, Divya 2M dan Rebecca 2B telah mengambil bahagian.

Program Girls Summit telah diadakan pada tarikh 24-27April 2014 bertempat di Bayu Beach Resort, Kelantan, anjuran Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia. Seorang pelajar, iaitu Sarmilah Janasegaran dari 4 Gigih telah dipilih mewakili daerah Sermban 2.

Appointment of Class Monitors and Assistants

Class monitors and assistant monitors were officially appointed during the school assembly on 24-02-2014. They were presented with a badge each. It is hoped that they will effectively carry out their role with full responsibility within their own class.

Basketball Competition

ACS hosted the Seremban 2 District Level Basketball Competition on 26 – 27 February 2014.It was a busy day for teachers and students who were on duty throughout the competition. Our Girls Under 18 team won the 2nd prize. Well done.

KEM PENGAKAP SEKOLAH

Pada 22 Mac 2014 yang lalu , Pangakap SMK Methodist ACS telah mengajurkan satu kem kemahiran.Seramai 40 ahli pengakap telah menyertai dalam kem ini. Pelbagai aktiviti seperti Masakan Rimba, Ekspedisi, Latihan Kawad Kaki dan Latihan Kemahiran telah diadakan. Kem ini dianjurkan untuk membina sikap berdisiplin dan bekerjasama ahli pengakap. Semua ahli pengakap telah menikmati suasana kem yang diibaratkan rumah kedua. Ahli Pengakap juga telah mempelajari berbagai-bagai kemahiran.

PERKHEMAHAN KADET REMAJA SEKOLAH PERINGKAT DAERAH

Pada 20 Mac hingga 22 Mac 2014 satu perkhemahan unit berunifom Kadet Remaja Sekolah (KRS) telah diadakan di Kem Rimba Ilmu, Juasseh Negeri Sembilan. Seramai 4 orang ahli KRS dari SMK Methodist (ACS) telah menyertai perkhemahan tersebut. Pelajar-pelajar tersebut ialah Yuveandran A/L Sangkar 3 Arif, Danesh A/L Ragavan 3 Arif, Navarnesh A/L Muniandy 3 Setia dan Abraham A/L Ravichandran 3 Bestari. Antara aktiviti yang dijalankan sepanjang perkhemahan tersebut ialah asas kawad kaki, memasang khemah, bantu mula, ikatan simpul , kain anduh, pembinaan gajet dalam kumpulan, senamrobik dan ‘night work’. Dalam perkhemahan tersebut juga, seorang peserta SMK Methodist (ACS) iaitu Navarnesh A/L Muniandy dari 3 Setia telah memenangi tempat ketiga dalam pertandingan ‘Bantu mula dalam kumpulan’.

Fire Drill

The first Annual Fire Drill was held on 06-03-2014. A demonstration on how to use the fire extinguisher and to put out a fire was given by a team of fire fighters from the Seremban Fire Fighters Department. Teachers and students were enlightened on the different kinds of fire extinguishers and their specific purpose in putting out a fire.

Parents Teachers Association Annual General Meeting

The 31st Parents Teachers Association Annual General meeting was held on 01-03-2014 at 2.00pm. The guest of honour, Mr. Khor HongYin, Director of the Methodist Council of Education Malaysia officiated the event. The event began with presentations from the school choir as well as the choral speaking team. Mr. Khor emphazised on the role of the school in the character building of young individuals. He later gave away certificates and prizes to top PMR 2013 and SPM 2012 achievers. The Parents Teachers Association meeting was held after tea was served for all.

Geography and Bahasa Melayu Month

The Bahasa Melayu and Geography Month was launched on 3 March 2014 by our Principal during the school assembly. Students took part in an array of competitions which included public speaking, pantun recitation, photography, written quiz and colouring. Prizes were given away to winners.

Test and Examination

The first Monthly Test 2014 began on 19 – 21 March 2014 while the Mid-Year Examination officially began on 28-04-2014 for form 5 and progressed to the other forms at varying dates. Teachers had to race against time to mark the answer scripts and key-in the results online before the holidays began on 27-06-2014.

SPM Results

The SPM 2013 results which were released 20-03-2014 took a slight dip but achieved 100% passes in five subjects. The number of top scorers too increased to 10 students. The Principal and the Senior Assistant 1 personally gave away the results slip to these top achievers. Congratulations to the school administrators, teachers and students.

HARI BENDERA

Hari Bendera telah diadakan pada 12 April 2014. Ahli- ahli BSMM telah berkumpul dan bertolak mengikut kumpulan masing-masing pada pukul 7.00 pagi. Ahli- ahli telah mengutip derma di sekitar Bandar Seremban.Derma sebanyak RM 7 000 berjaya dikutip.

MAJLIS PENGESAHAN AHLI-AHLI BARU DAN MAJLIS ULANG TAHUN YANG KE-54

Majlis Pengesahan Ahli-ahli Baru dan Majlis Ulang Tahun Yang Ke-54 telah diadakan pada 26 April 2014. Encik Ramesh Patel, Pengerusi dari Rembau Chapter telah dijemput sebagai tetamu khas. Pameran “power point” tentang pencapaian dan aktiviti BSMM telah ditunjukkan. Seterusnya Encik Ramesh menyampaikan sijil kepada wakil ahli BSMM Tingkatan 1. Selepas itu, ahli-ahli BSMM baru juga melafazkan ikrar BSMM. Pelbagai persembahan yang menarik telah disediakan oleh ahli-ahli BSMM. Cenderamata telah disampaikan kepada para hadirin dan wakil-wakil dari sekolah lain.

PERKHEMAHAN KOR KADET POLIS PERINGKAT DAERAH SEREMBAN

Pada 19 - 21 April 2014, KOR KADET POLIS SMK METHODIST (ACS) telah menyertai satu perkhemahan Kor Kadet polis peringkat daerah Seremban anjuran Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Seremban dengan kerjasama IPD SEREMBAN.Sebanyak 17 sekolah telah menyertai aktiviti perkhemahan tersebut.Pelbagai aktiviti telah dipertandingkan. Antara pertandingan yang diadakan adalah pertandingan kawad kaki,Jalan Lasak dan aktiviti Menembak . Wakil Kadet Polis sekolah kita iaitu saudara CHIN TECK MING dari tingkatan 4 SETIA telah muncul sebagai JOHAN dalam pertandingan Jalan Lasak kategori lelaki. Beliau telah menerima sebuah piala dan sijil kemenangan dari PPD.

Pesta Pantun

Pada 16-17 April 2014, SMK Methodist ACS telah menjadi tuan rumah Pesta pantun. Pesta ini dianjurkan setiap tahun dengan bertujuan memperkasakan warisan budaya bangsa agar tidak ditelan zaman. Sekolah-sekolah menengah Daerah Seremban 2 telah menghantar pasukan mereka untuk mewakili sekolah masing-masing. Melalui pertandingan ini, pelajar dapat membina keyakinan diri dan berdaya saing secara sihat.

English Mathematics and Science Month

The English, Mathematics and Science Month was officialy launched by our principal, Mr. Thong Kok Chaw on 07-04-2014 with thetheme ‘English Language as the Catalyst for Globalisation’.In his address during the school assembly, Mr.Thong Kok Chaw emphasized on the role of the English Language in every specialized field in today’s hi-tech life style. Students had an opportunity to take part in an array of activities throughout this month. Prizes were given away to the winners.

PISA Month Test

On 28-04-2014 a mock test, organised by PISA on Science and Mathematics for Form 3 students was held. The Ministry of Education‘s emphasis on these subjects require students to be constantly on their toes for testing and evaluation throughout the year.

Improvement of PBS, PT3 and Education Development Plan Overview

On 09-04-2014, the Senior Assistant 1, Madam Chuan Teik Mei gave an overview course of the PBS, PT3 and the Education Development Improvement Plan at the school Audio Visual Room. The course was held separately for both the morning and afternoon session teachers. Teachers were enlightened on the preparation of assessment instruments based on the Students’ Education Development Guidebook and the direction the education system is moving.

Science and Mathematics Fair

The Science and Mathematics fair was held on 23 & 24 April 2014 with the objective of instilling love for these subjects amongst the students.The event took place at the Methodist Centre. Students enjoyed a mini fun fair with fun filled games and other exhibits related to the field of Science and Mathematics. The event was graced by our Principal Mr. Thong Kok Chaw.

Discipline Week

 The Discipline Week which stretched from 14-18 April 2014 was launched by our Principal Mr. Thong Kok Chaw. Among the activities for the week was an exhibition on Road Safety and Road Offences at the Methodist Centre. A spot check on students’ motorcycles as well as their licences was also carried out. Students were reminded not to take their safety lightly.

Poetry Recitation and story Telling Competition

The English Language Panel organised this competition on 24-04-2014 for the Forms Remove, One and Two students with the objective of giving them the opportunity to uncover their hidden oratory and public speaking skills whilst appreciating the aesthetic values of the English Language through poetry. Students gave a spectacular performance with excellent quality in pronunciation, enunciation and confidence. Heartiest congratulations to all Form Remove, 1 & 2 English Language teachers who started training the students very early to ensure high quality of delivery. The principal who was very pleased with the performance gave away prizes to winners from various categories.

Pesta Pantun

Pantun merupakan puisi radisi Melayu yang diwarisi zaman berzaman. Dalam usaha unuk mewarisi puisi rasional ini agar dihayati oleh generasi muda, Kementerian Pendidikan telah memperkenalkan pertandingan berbalas pantun sekolah-sekolah Menengah Malaysia. Penganjuran pertandingan ini mendapat kerjasama yang amat baik daripada Berita Harian yang juga penyumbang Piala Sirih Pulang Ke Gagang dan Piala Ketrampilan yang menjadi rebutan pemantun.

Pihak-pihak lain yang memberikan kerjasama dalam pengelolaan Pesta Pantun ialah Kementerian Komunikasi, Penerangan, Kebudayaan dan Warisan Malaysia, Kerajaan Negeri, RTM, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Bahagian Teknologi Pendidikan dan agensi-agensi kerajaan dan bukan kerajaan yang lain.

Pesta Pantun Daerah Seremban 2 telah diadakan pada 16 dan 17 April 2014 di SMK Methodist (ACS), Seremban. Sebanyak 21 sekolah dari daerah Seremban 2 telah mengambil bahagian dalam pesta pantun ini. Semua peserta pesta pantun adalah terdiri daripada kaum Melayu iaitu 105 orang peserta.

Seramai 87 orang pelajar telah berkhidmat dalam pesta tersebut. Antaranya ialah 32 orang pelajar Melayu, 24 orang pelajar Cina dan 30 orang pelajar India. Mereka telah menjalankan tugas yang telah diagihkan dengan bersungguh-sungguh. AJK Pengelola Pesta Pantun juga telah melaksanakan tugas yang diagihkan dengan baik sehingga pesta pantun ini

dapat dijayakan seperti yang dirancangkan. Majlis penutupan dan penyampaian hadiah telah disempurnakan oleh En. Azhar bin Ab Ghani, Penolong PPD Bimbingan Kaunseling dan Kerjaya Murid.

Sumative Assessment- TIMSS

ACS conducted the Science Sumative Assessment – TIMSS for Form 2 students from 19 – 21 May 2014. This assessment was organised by the Ministry of Education to evaluate the students’ preparedness and their understanding of Science at the Form 2 level.

ACS Music Festival

The ACS Music Society gave a spectacular performance of songs, dances and musical presentations during the ACS Musical Festival on 24-05-2014. The festival was graced by our principal, Mr. Thong Kok Chaw who had upgraded the society’s facilities with high quality musical instruments and a conducive room for music practice. The participating members put in tremendous effort and sacrifice together with their trainer and teacher advisor Mr. Lim Loon Chang for the success of the show. Everyone was caught up in the mood for a jazzy and fun filled night.

In-House Training on Chrome Google

On 26-05-2014, our school panel heads had an intensive training on software application of Google/Chrome by Mr. Lim Loon Chang. As the education system moves into high-tech, teachers are expected to be tech-savvy. The session ended at 5.30pm after a long exhausted day.

Teachers Day Celebration

Teachers Day celebrated on 23-05-2014 at the school level was held a day after the last paper of the Mid-Year Exam 2014. The event was celebrated on a modest scale. In his key address in a special assembly held at the Pusat Kegiatan Kokurikulum,

the principal highlighted the sacrificial role of teachers as educators in moulding young lives. Students were entertained with an array of multicultural songs and dances. The staff was fested to a modest but sumptuous meal. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Sports House Practice

House Practice for the School Sports began from 3 March – 19 June 2014 at the SRJK (C) San Min School field at 2.30 – 3.45pm on Tuesday and Thursday under the supervision of the sports house teachers. The school sports will tentatively be held on 25 June 2014.

Seperti biasa pada setiap tahun Pusat Sumber Sekolah mengadakan Minggu PSS. Minggu PSS pada tahun ini diadakan pada 30 hb. Jun – 4 hb Julai 2014 iaitu selama seminggu dengan tema ‘PSS TRANSFORMASI ILMU’. Pelancaran minggu ini telah disempurnakan oleh Tuan Pengetua Cemerlang En. Thong Kok Chaw (Penasihat PSS) bersama-sama Pn. Chuan Teik Mei (Pengerusi PSS) dengan memotong reben semasa perhimpunan rasmi pada pagi Isnin. Pada minggu ini pelbagai aktiviti dan pertandingan diadakan seperti meneka berat labu, murid yang kerap ke perpustakaan, murid yang banyak meminjam buku di perpustakaan, program NILAM, penganugerahan pengawas perpustakaan cemerlang dan berkomitmen. Tidak ketinggalan juga kepada pengawas perpustakaan sesi 2013/2014 yang bersara diberikan penghargaan cenderahati sebagai membalas jasa mereka yang berkhidmat menjayakan pengurusan perpustakaan berjalan lancar.

Pengawas perpustakaan cemerlang pada tahun 2014 ini telah dianugerahkan kepada, Christopher Chan Yew Fai (5S) sementara 6 orang yang lain dianugerahkan sebagai pengawas perpustakaan berkomitmen. Kuiz Undang-undang Kemanusiaan Antarabangsa Peringkat Daerah telah diadakan di Akademi Latihan BSMM pada 12 Julai 2014. Pertandingan ini telah disertai oleh Tristan Chang Juin Han, Bee Swen Ywen , Chaw Liang Yin dan Darren Chang Juin Rong.

Pelancaran Hari Koperasi Sekolah 2014

Perayaan Hari Koperasi Sekolah telah mula disambut sejak tahun 1995. Bagi tahun 2104 Hari Koperasi Sekolah telah disambut dengan baik mulai 16 Julai hingga 18 Julai 2014. Objektif HKS mempromosikan kepada warga ACS tentang kewujudan koperasi sekolah dan nilai-nilai keusahawanan yang harus dipupuk dalam kalangan pelajar. Sepanjang minggu HKS telah adakan beberapa aktiviti seperti Pertandingan Kuiz Koperasi, aktiviti Sosial Persatuan Pengguna dan Pertandingan Projek Keusahawanan bertempat di Methodist Center.

University of New South Wales English Test

The UNSW English Test was held on 8 July 2014 at the ACS School Library. A total of 45 candidates sat for this test. We are proud that 6 of our candidates passed with distinction. This indeed is a praiseworthy feat which puts these candidates as well as ACS on a world class platform. Well done.

Pada tahun ini juga, pada bulan Ogos pengerusi PSS Pn. Chuan Teik Mei yang banyak memberi dorongan, sokongan, idea, kerjasama yang padu dan menaik taraf PSS telah bersara.
